Oh, I know there's a bit of a debate on the spelling, but as a British-English speaker and grammar nerd it does grate on me, unfortunately. :( I can see your point about one word looking better on the icon - I think it does - but because it's wrong in my British-English grammar-nerd mind I can't use it, much though I think the icon captures a lovely, poignant moment. :)
