Well since they're changing Everything Else Ever, it seemed pretty logical ;)

The logo has changed with every new Doctor (it's less noticable between 9 and 10, although it's there) so there's that too.

People in the fandom are divided but I say haters to the left because the actual logo is neat and the cool branding bit (DW TARDIS) will look so slick on teasers and merchandising.
