Well I can't respond for the people who made said comments but as for myself, I only had to resort to the Martha/Rose comparaison when I had been attacked on the same grounds. And I've never done it with pleasure.
Wouldn't it be better in fact to (unlike The Doctor) not compare her to Rose and appreciate her for her own awesomeness?
That was the whole point of this post really, to show some arguments about the fact that Martha actually *has* come into her own as a more than competent companion and that it was unecessary to take the piss at RTD for one poorly misquoted comment.
I *do* personally prefer Martha to Rose but that doesn't mean that I don't like the latter at all. Actually, I'm hoping for them to really *ahem* get along... If you catch my drift.
