Well I was thinking the same thing in reverse since I haven't rewatched series 2 yet but yeah... Nine and Rose were much more softer and sweet as a whole and most importantly continuously throughout the series. But I think it's due to the doctors' different personalities and the state Nine was in when he first met her.
