Doctor Who 402 - The Fires of Pompeii

DARK EMO EPISODES FOR TEH WIN !!

That had to be the worst first companion trip ever.

Donna is ABSOLUTELY first class amazing. She's definitly the best new Who companion yet because in a way she feels so much more human and real than Rose and Martha ever did. She's portrayed much more realisticly and works better as the POV of the audience. My heart still belongs to Martha because I have irrational batshit love for her, but I can see why Donna is filling the function of what a companion should be to the Doctor much more efficiently than the previous two (and it redefines completely the tone of the series, for the better). You can already see the deep (non romantic) love and respect they have for each other by the end of the episode. And Donna is UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLY amazing, or did I say that already ?

This is definitely my favourite historical episode with HN/FOB, I loved everything from the characters, costumes, sets, plot, alien race to the impressive FX, IT WAS V. V. V. V. GOOD !

The TARDIS as a modern art piece totally made me think of the John Cleese bit in City of Death XD

Spartacus and Spartacus : brother and sisters "you look alike" *look at each other* "really ?" XDDDDDD

AND OMG THE SCENE WITH THE TWO ORACLES ASDJDSLKFHS MAN FROM GALLIFREY ADJSLMFJS MEDUSA CASCADE AZSDLAJAZPSDJA LORD OF TIME !! Now THAT was the epitome of coolness.

DONNA HAS SOMETHING ON HER BACK. Wait, what ?

Donna's reaction on the sacrificial altar was ace and I loved the Doctor's entrance "just us girls" Oh Ten. <3

THE WATER PISTOL AS TEH DEDLY WEAPON WAS MADE OF 57 FLAVOURS OF WIN. And the Doctor was totally hot being all SRS BZNS with it.
"You fought her off with a water pistol ? I BLOODY love you." See ? Much much more efficient as the audience's POV. :D

That's the second time the Shadow Proclamation was mentionned and an alien planet was lost. I'm hooked to those hints ! The foreshadowing is much more interesting this year.

I loved the arguing between Donna and the Doctor about "will they won't they intervene to save everyone" and the Burden of the Time Lord thing totally made me flail HARD.
Execpt that when the Doctor said "I'm the only one left" I shouted STOP SAYING THAT TIS NOT TRUE at the telly.

Both the escape pod scene and Donna breaking down (GREAT piece of acting from Catherine here) in the TARDIS and begging him to save someone made me cry. Yes, I'm a good audience.

So the ending with the household Gods was a bit much, but I even love the camp in my show, yes I do.

NEXT WEEK : IF YOUR OOD IS HAPPY, THEN YOU'LL BE HAPPY TOO.

I know I am so far *geeky glee*

Oh, man I love Donna A LOT right now. I feel a wee bit like I'm cheating on ma Marfa but they're such different characters, I don't feel like I really am. Plus, they get to meet in a couple of weeks time which will easily be the BEST MOMENT ONNA TELLY EVAR.

Also, I'm currently shipping Ten/Donna liek woah.

I'm not feeling like it's cheating because they're both made of awesome in drastically different ways.
Both of them combining their ORSUM is indeed going to be spectacular !

I'm weirdly less shipping Ten/Donna than before the series had started, but I really dig their chemistry.

THIS EPISODE WAS SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF WIN.

There was lols, there were old skool references, there was creepy foreshadowing, there was emo time lord angst, there was DONNA'S CLEAVAGE. The only thing missing was Unexpected Naked Jack, but we can't have everything. :D

It's funny because we talked about the possibility of unexpected!Jack yesterday afternoon with some friends.
I was sucked in the episode so much that I completely forgot to be disappointed afterwards XD

I WANT AN ALTAR OF TEN AND DONNA AND THE TARDIS.

This rocked so fucking hard because it was so OLDSKOOL. And finally not about the fuckin' shippage. An actual adventure story and with good bitching! It reminded me of quite a few Tom stories in that sense--the sort that got me into Who in the first place.

It really felt different from every other new who episodes, yes and that's thanks to Donna \o/

But you're right, as soon as they got rid of the Doctor/Companion shippage and focused more on the story, it was a little bit more like old school stories, which felt like a nice change. I hope they'll keep it that way for the rest of the current series.

OMG it was one of my fav DW ep!! Srsly I 'loled' a lot of times(the water pistol!! I LMAO during 5 minutes!), and almost cried because of Donna at the end.
I love(d) Rose, she is and will be my fav companion 4evah, but Donna is made of win. She.Is.Really.Amazing!! I LOVE her, and I love her relationship with the Doc.
I can't wait for the next ep!
