Well I'm only doing this post to support Stephanie McMoffie because in 2 hours she already has had more H8 thrown at her face than both Matha and Rose together in years.
And I'm going to be laughing hard if she turns out to be a lesbian.
If you want an older female and/or male for companion then look no further than Ten's last specials, he has it all.

As I said I know we only have a single picture to judge from but she looks really young on it. At least the clothes they chose make her look young.
I'm only talking new Who here: there have been 3 companions (yes we could count Mickey and Jack but they come and go. Let's just talk about the "real" companions), 2 were young women and those 2 in particular were in love with the Doctor.
Of course we're just speculating, maybe Moffat will change this but his record on the subject is not good and seeing this promo pic made me feel like we were back to square one.
Yes, that would be great if she turned out to be a lesbian but what are the odds of that happening?
Then again, I really hope Moffat will surprise us all by being bolder than RTD but one of my fears has already been confirmed (the fact that's she's a girl and she's young) so obviously it made me pessimistic about the rest :/
