Load and loads and loads of fannish babble.
*gah* So much to update about. SO LAZY.
So last weekend I invited
fairy_bliss,
foui_the_brave (aka Untitled) and
ephyse to watch Children of Earth Day 5 all together for the first time (*hmmph* *kicks Eph*) and do a little marathon of the whole thing afterwards to celebrate Torchweek.
So we did watch Day 5 in shocking silence because honestly, I for my part, was fucking horrified. But in a good way ! I think that the series as a whole was one of the best piece of television we've had all year and I WILL NEVER FORGET JOHN FROBISHER. HE WAS A GOOD MAN *dies a little inside*
We had a lovely chat afterwards (outside, under the sun *gasps*) and
fairy_bliss left us for the night because she had to wake up early the next day for the french HP premiere (which I'm glad she did now because she was able to warn me about the big cuts they made in the story, more on that later).
We never got the COE marathon under way because we realized that all in one go so soon after having seen it would have probably ended with us killing ourselves. We did rewatch *that* death though and I didn't cry this time :) (which meant that I actually heard what they were saying lol).
So we had a comedy night instead, and it felt really good after all the gloom and doom fest of Torchweek. We watched both Alan and Jimmy Carr'stand up. I only knew Jimmy Carr through the big fat quizz but OMFG HE IS HILARIOUS. I mean you want to slap him hard because his humor is horrific and he has the most annoying face ever but you can't help yourself from laughing like mad. His impro skills are really impressive.
We also watched some bits and pieces of Tim Minchin'So Fucking Rock (♥) and Foui introduced us to Eddie Izzard which I knew by reputation but I'm so glad she did because INSTA LOVE for the man. We finished the night with Let's Go To Prison at Eph's request and she loved it so much that I could talk her through snagging my Arrested Development s1 boxset :D
Thanks again girls, I had a lovely geeky weekend ♥
I have now my hands on the 4 stand up shows of Jimmy Carr (watched In Concert and Live) and Eddie Izzard's Dress To Kill (which was watched and LUUUUVED).
Those days I'm cheating on my OTP because I kinda... Fell back into Ten/Jack and am reading anything post COE with them in it. I blame it on my love for COE!Jack and his awesome character development, and me being obsessed by the follow up to the series.
I also fell back into Dexter because I caught up with season 3 in two days AND IT WAS MADE OF WIN. Well the ending was less good than the previous two finales but the Dexter/Miguel Prado storyline kept me on the edge of my seat. The actors had an incredible chemistry ! Oh and Michael C. Hall ? Still nom nom nomable and brilliant *__*
I still have Alias season 5 to watch and Chuck to caught up with and then I'll be able to try something new.
The League of Gentlemen
Son of Anarchy
Legend of the Seeker
Mad Men
Coupling
Jekyll
The Second Coming
Breaking Bad
Sanctuary
I don't know where I'll start, depending on the mood but please tell me if I shouldn't bother with something because it would save me some time :)
In other news I saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince yesterday with the bro and
fairy_bliss, and apart from the bad seats, I COMPLETELY LOVED IT !
It was gorgeous, both incredibly funny and dark in places. The young cast was the best they've ever been so far and the others were excellent, as always.
JIM BROADBENT STOLE THE WHOLE MOVIE FOR ME. HE WAS UTTERLY PRICELESS AND SPOT ON.
The Good
JIM BROADBENT AS SLUGHORN WAS FUCKING AMAZING. But I think mentioned this already :D
Ron and the quidditch try outs (the Quidditch scenes looked incredible this time around !)
Despite of Ginny shoehorned all over the film, Harry and Draco's obsession for each other still shone BRIGHT. Their first scene in the train and the fight in the bathroom were absolutely delightful *grin*
The new students were win : Lavender Brown was pitch perfect, Cormac McLaggen was hilariously perfect (and sleazy) and Blaise Zabini was perfecty HAWT.
Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon also made the film. It was theirs and they were even more acting their hearts out than usual for it.
Watch out for Harry high on Felix Felicis. DanRad's comic timing was unexpected and I had never laughed this hard during a HP film.
The cave scene was exactly like I pictured it and was both creepy and incredibly moving because it marked the beginning of the end.
The "Severus... Please." moment couldn't have been more well acted either.
We didn't get to see Dumbledore's funeral but the scene where all the students and teachers gathered around his body and pointed their wand at the sky to make the Dark Mark disappear was just as moving, I was in tears by then.
The Bad
Most of the things I had already been warned for (which is why I wasn't that pissed off watching it).
The pointless scene where Bella burns down the Burrow. WITH GINNY RUNNING THROUGH A WALL OF FIRE IN HER BATHROBES BECAUSE SHE CAN. *argh*
Fenrir being just... There without getting a proper introduction.
NO DADA CLASSES. NOT ONE. Snape finally had the job of his dreams but we didn't get to see it *grumbles*
No battle between the students and death eaters at the end. They come. They kill Dumbledore. They break some junk and off they go. Because they are nice like that. RIGHT.
The Ugly
Ginny may well be more of a Sue here than in the book.
Her relationship with Harry felt even more forced on us too. The rewritten first kiss is PROPERLY ATROCIOUS.
She also get to feed him pie and lace his shoe. IT CAN'T GET MORE SICKENING THAN THIS.
Then again I haven't seen the next two movies.
All in all a big YAY for this one. I can't wait to see it in all its IMAX glory when we'll be in Glasgow !

Yes inaccuracy YOU ARE FULL OF THEM.
I know *exactly* what you mean about the DanRad, it's the same for me <3
THAT SCOTLAND TRIP WILL BE WIN OF EPIC PROPORTION. I CANNOT WAIT TO FROLICK IN HOGWARTS. This reminds me that I still have to watch Braveheart and Highlander !
