So this is my last post and then I'm off for a week to Germany with my school. Hope it'll be fun.
What's less fun is that I have to get up at 5.30 am on a sunday and that we'll have 10 hours of bus trip ahead of us.
So I just bought a portable dvd player and I was lucky enough to recieve the IT Crowd series 1&2, Nathan Barley and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (if you're wondering, all these shows have Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt in them *junkie in need of a fix*) from amazon which make me HAPPY AS HELL. The bus trip doesn't seem so awful, suddenly.
Today I went to see Cloverfield with
angeliksmall,
jedicathy and
vilyajade and I really liked it. After getting used to it, the way it was shot (like an hand held camera) really helped to make me feel like I was right in the middle of the action. The fx were cleverly underused and always looked completely stunning everytime we were allowed to see something. Some images were truly reminiscent of some 9/11 footage we saw over and over on tv. Sure, the hero going back to save his twu luv and the amazing survival capacity of both the characters and the videocamera made me roll eyes at times but apart from that I was totally sucked in and bordeline scared by certain scenes (if you know me, you know that's saying something). The concept was extremely well executed from beginning to end. *two thumbs up*
Finally, I found the time to watch Ashes to Ashes and BOY WAS IT ORSUM. I love to death the overly glorified version of Gene in certain scenes (with the big music and the slow motion *rotfl*), I love Chris's more prominent role, I LOVE the newspaper clippings of Sam in Gene's office that he stares at while sipping a glass of wine and I LOVE ALEX DRAKE, she's a complete badass and Keeley Hawes already owns that part.
It feels very different from Life on Mars and it's clearly for the best, I can't wait to be next week.
And on this high note, I'm off to bed. Good night flist :)
