So we saw Inception with [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss and [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall on friday night and as far as I'm concerned, I thought it was an excellent film but it didn't meet my expectations.

That's thanks to the huge hype that was all about how revolutionary and groundbreaking it was. Well one sequence actually was (I kept wondering how they did it) but the rest ? Not so much.
I did love it, the cast was incredible, the action scenes were neat and the scenario was very solid, it was good SF. But I didn't feel like it would leave the same impact as say Matrix had on me, at all.
I had no trouble to follow which was probably kudos to the long ass first 40 minutes dedicated to explain everything. TOO MUCH TIME EXPLAINING EVERYTHING OMG. Of course as soon as they started the mission, it became all kinds of awesome and I really was sucked into it.

But anyway the important things about this film are :

Joseph Gordon Levitt should always dress like this. HOLY HOTNESS BATMAN.

Arthur/Eames. I SHIP IT HARD.

We had a lovely fannish night/saturday at Cath's getting Cookie acquainted with Glee and Community. We also rewatched the That 70's Show episode with Joseph in it HAHAHA.
Galouz and I finished the night/early morning with watching random (good) Nuke parts when the other two went to bed because we're horrible junkies like that and it took us two more hours to stop talking and actually sleep (for 3 hours, eh). Like I said to her it was worth it tho <3

Last night I listened to the Doctor Who Prom live and OMGSOGOOD. I can't wait to actually see it because Matt, Arthur and Karen sounded adorable and I want that OST so so hard now.
The pics made me die again today. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THOSE TUX OMG. I love how Karen is towering over both of them with her heels, hee.

Sherlock starts tonight ! Love the trailer and I'm really excited and curious about it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have A Very Potter Sequel to catch up with. TEEHEE.

ETA : HOW FUCKING AWESOME WAS THIS ?

Gawd I wish I had been there. ELEVEN YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE. IT R JUST FACT.

In the last couple of days I watched Bunny and the Bull and Boy A (with that cutie Andrew Garfield). The former was extremely charming with stunning visuals, excellent music and truly sad moments. It made me want to watch the Mighty Boosh again hard.
The later was also very good. Garfield (ah ! I love only using his last name) gave a brilliant performance and you *had* to root for his character, which made the film all the more heartbreaking ;___ ; .
I did a non spoilery picspam of the film here.

Apart from that, I M IN EXTREME TRUE BLOOD WITHDRAWAL. There was no episode this week due to that silly 4th of July. I AM DISAPPOINT. NEED MOAR VAMPIRE VIKING ERIC.

Also, next week is [livejournal.com profile] nukebigbang which I'm REALLY excited about and... Oh hum there's this little thing this saturday when I get to meet Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann in the flesh. But so far, BRAIN KEEPS SHUTING DOWN when I dare think about it so... OMGIMGONNABEDEADBYTHEN.
rosengirl: (DW : Ten slutty tongue darting)

I loved him in Parnassus and he was Frank from Doctor Who. The Doctor wanted to kiss him later (and he did) so I can't not love him.

Currently getting my hands on Boy A. I shall hunt down Red Riding next.

He's a brit, I can't not love him !

Marc Webb said he was an amazing actor. I can't not love him !

First time I'm actually giving a damn about Spider-Man 2.0.
rosengirl: (DW : Rory and his wise words)
Doctor Who broke my heart.

I loved The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood as a whole, I thought it was a solid two parter. I still prefer Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, which I think remain my fave episodes so far.
Here, I loved the spookiness of part one and the epicness of two. The physical and CGI FX were gorgeous. The set design was also beautiful.

I thought they did a great job with the new Silurians and I thought that the stakes in part two were well handled. The human characters were also quite memorable and interesting and I really dug the grim tone of the story.

As for THAT TWIST )

Oh sweet sweet pain.

FORTUNATELY, the Confidential had an awesome video diary with Mazza n Kazza during the DW tour and it had the complete opposite effect on me. THEIR GENUINE DORKTASTICNESS NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE.

Case in point : MAZZA AND KAZZA'S PRESH DANCE OF PRESHNESS. Which I watched about 868769386978963897963 times already. I'm only human after all.

Last saturday I went to a french Supernatural convention with [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] ephyse, [livejournal.com profile] daiyaa and [livejournal.com profile] vilajyade, mainly for Misha Collins and it didn't disappoint !

fairy_bliss and I actually had about zero expectations and not a whole lot of excitement since we're not as into spn as we once were. Even that is debatable for me SINCE I've never REALLY been fannish about spn, even if I love the show. We were quite worried about the "french" part of french convention but some silly bits aside it was extremely lovely and even had good organization and a nice staff.

Misha is as mad as he appears to be and was hilarious throughout (and damn hot), Alona Tal was a sweetheart and Traci Dinwiddie a total surprise because she was most awesome and sweet.

Since France can't do anything like everyone else, here, they thought it would be awesome to teach us a Ghostbuster dance (it was ridic but admitedly less mortifying once we got used to it) so that people who would be there on sunday (me and galouz weren't) could perform it in front of the guests and they could join.

So I give you Misha Collins and Cie doing the ghostbuster dance with the audience :

I love how he sneaked out before the end and how Traci and Alona ended up dancing with each other. Lolz.

rosengirl: (Skating : Weir taste of the rainbow)
1. Saw Kick-Ass a couple of weeks ago. It was made of complete awesome !

I read the comics and did love most of the changes they made for the film, especially the depth added to the vilains. Mark Strong was perfect as usual and Christopher Mintz-Plasse made Red Mist very sympathetic. The action sequences and the soundtrack rocked like a rocking thing and OH HAI AARON JOHNSON.

Yes, I subsequently had a massive crush on Aaron Johnson. I MEAN.

WHO CAN BLAME ME.

Since then I saw him as a young Lennon in Nowhere Boy and he blew me away. I KNEW RIGHT THERE AND THEN THAT IT WAS LOVE.

I did a picspam of the film here. The trailer is here. It's brilliant and I highly recommend it (and wee adorable Thomas Sangster plays Paul McCartney and it's full of slash).

I also have Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging to see and I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE TO COME OUT :

Gratuitous Aaron Johnson picspam of excruciating prettiness. )

I'm going to see Kick-Ass again tomorrow. I'M BUZZING WITH GIDDINESS.

2. I watched the 8 episodes reality series Be Good Johnny Weir and now OH YOU GUYS :

BITCH IS SO FIERCE IT MAKES ME DIZZY.

That was one hell of a great documentary. I mean I already liked him but after seeing this ? I have so much respect for him now it's not even funny. He works *so* hard to be on top without losing his principles. And he is fabulous and over the top and oh so presh.

Basically, that's what you need to know in a nutshell :

I started to have a lot of unexpected figure skating knowledge thanks to BGJW and ended up joining [livejournal.com profile] ontd_skating. I REGRET NOTHING OMG. THIS FANDOM IS HILARIOUS AND BRINGS SO MUCH SPARKLES AND GIGGLES.

My ships, let me show you them + gratuitous Ice Princess picspam )

3. I saw Iron Man 2 and obviously loved loved LOVED RDJ and Sam Rockwell in it but I was a bit disappointed. It had awesome bits but as a whole it was packed with too much stuff and just not as good as the first one.

4. I *finally* found a job after leaving school and start on monday so basically, \o/
rosengirl: (Actors : Colin Firth wet & drinking *GUH)
This post is totally pointless because I really CANNOT form coherent thoughts about it right now.

But one word comes to mind for about everything from the directing, acting, story, atmosphere, feelings, photography and so on :

PERFECTION.

[livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss and myself are biaised as massive Colin Firth fans but there's not one thing to nitpick about everything else. One of the best cinematic experience I've had in a long time.

And it *is* Colin's role of a lifetime. If he doesn't win the oscar for this, I will lose all faith in humanity for good.
rosengirl: (VL : Poussin und Mother Chick are <3)
So last week I went 4 times to the movies and wanted to post about it because I loved every single one of them but I have postponed this post for the last week or so because of my epic laziness.

Sherlock Holmes has finally been out over here for 2 weeks and now that I've seen it (twice last week, eh) I'd say that the hype surrounding it is well deserved. It was hot, fast paced and terribly endearing. Robert was completely Ace, not that it was unexpected and I was pleasantly surprised by Jude Law's Watson, especially since I'm usually not the biggest Law fan. They had wicked chemistry and worked really well together. I was also pleased by the supporting cast since I always love me some Mark Strong and Rachel McAdams.

I Love You, Phillip Morris really didn't disappoint. Both Carrey and McGregor played their part brilliantly and the story was in turn hilarious, sweet and yet incredibly sad. It was hard to believe that it was indeed a true story because some of the con Steven Russell pulled off were just completely unbelievable. I've read a very good interview with the real Russell and not only what is in the film is as close to the truth as it gets, but he really is a fascinating man. It breaks my heart a little to think that he is now in solitary 23 hours a day for the rest of his life. Couldn't they make him work for the FBI or something ? He's like a super Neal Caffrey ! I've ordered the book and can't wait to read it. I really loved their story.

Brothers was mainly worth it for the stunning acting performances of Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film felt so intimate to me that I had the impression that I was intruding sometimes. The trailer was also misleading and the story was not quite what I expected, which is a good thing since it turned out way more interesting and challenging than what I thought it would be. It also had quite a strong anti-army, anti-war message at its heart that I did not expect and found really well handled and moving.

I'm seing Valentine's Day tomorrow (and going to a Cobra Starship gig afterwards, eeehh). Shush. I love me some stupid romcom once in a while and it doesn't make me a girly girl that girls kthx.

In other news, I have started a That 70's Show marathon because I have acquired all 8 seasons, thanks to my dear [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss. I will watch it properly for the first time (meaning all of it, in order and not dubbed) since I never had the chance before. I've almost finished the first season already and OH THE NOSTALGIA IT BROUGHT. I was surprised by how well I remembered some of it.
The episode where Joseph Gordon-Levitt guests as Eric's new BFF-who-really-wants-to-get-in-his-pants was so cute ! He looked so very young and his voice hadn't finished to break yet. I remembered JGL was in it before I got my hands on the show and it certainly helped me to watch the first part of the season faster. So yes, I'm enjoying the hell out of it, especially the 70's pop culture references, the retardedness of Kelso and the eerieness of Fez <3

As for soapland, sorry for exploding all over your flist but FUCK NOES I HAVE STILL NOT RECOVERED FROM THE FACT THAT JAKE AND VAN WILL BE IN MY COUNTRY IN JULY. I spent the week making up slightly batshit scenarios with [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss because nobody really knows the extent of our batshit behind closed doors but I will just say that it's quite epic and I often mortify myself.

I've discovered that I have a real problem with soaps. I apparently can't stop getting into them since I've discovered that they have the Best Gays. I clearly need an intervention.
So after a failed first attempt, I stubbornly tried Verbotene Liebe again and WHADAYAKNOW I fell in love with Christian and Oliver.
I was caught up with it in 4 days which seems ridiculously fast but since the show is often ignoring them and only write actual stories for them only once in a while (they're just standing there, giving advice to other characters the rest of the time and it's really offensive !) it was easy peasy.
I have some issues with the actual pairing because they are absolutely adorkable, but sometimes it's just all there is to them. Their drama is always short lived (when there is drama, which is not often) and they're not struggling enough.
With Nuke and Deniz/Roman, the struggles and the soul-crushing pain they go through is what make the fluffytiems so fucking rewarding. It's backwards with Ollian because I don't get excited by the long periods of fluff, I'm just bouncing madly everytime ANGSTIEM rears its awesome head (or simply when it focuses on them after a long period of 'let's just hang around and give advice', eh).
But despite this, I've grown attached to them because they really make a cute pairing.

Case in point in fanvid format (by [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero)

I'm also ridiculously infatuated with Christian and have nicknamed him 'ptit poussin' (lil' chick) BECAUSE THAT'S JUST WHAT HE IS. He acts all tough and manly but really ? Schatz is a spectacular angsty woobie and his vulnerability makes me flail into oblivion.

Also I am shallow and I'D HIT THAT SO HARD I WOULD PASS OUT.

The actors are also awesomely dorky which of course helped. Watch them running around London like the fierce dorks they are.

The current storyline is very promising in the angst department though. Well I do know it will deliver since I've spoiled myself rotten ha ha ha. I can't wait !
rosengirl: (House : H/W cooking is an euphemism)
First of all, I just came back from (500) Days of Summer and LOVED IT SO HARD IT HURTS OMG. I came for the Gubler's Hair on the big screen and I stayed for the Joseph Everything, HE WAS SO BRILLIANT AND ALL MY LOVE FOR HIM JUST RUSHED BACK X 1000. The film was very refreshing from what you usually get in a romantic comedy so it was a good surprise. The story was light, cute, sometimes hilarious and sad. Oh and the Gube's hair did look mighty awesome on a big screen and it was really nice to see him standing and walking, too :D
We had a great time !

Here, have a cute vid of Joseph and Zooey dancing together (it's not in the film but it shows their awesome chemistry) :

I just want to rewatch Mysterious Skin and The Lookout really badly now, and see 500 Days again ♥

Dexter's premiere exceeded expectations ! I'm so looking forward to the new season now.

Hey look, a real post \o/

So I know that my Scotland trip picspam trip is still not posted but the pics are at least ready to ! I only have to upload them and hum actually write the post.

And I sure will do on monday because I'll be home recovering from THE UTTER ORSUMNESS OF THE ROCK EN SEINE FESTIVAL TOMORROW. It's my first year doing it and I'm incredibly excited !

I'm going with my fellow [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc and the bro and we're going to see Metric, Klaxons, MGMT, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures (OOOH YES) and most of all, MOST OF ALL : The Prodigy \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

And it's going to be FANTASTIC.

You know what else is fucking epic ? WHY INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS THAT'S WHAT. Saw the film last night and my mind is still blown. Nothing is not incredible in this flick, from the actors (Christoph Waltz ALKSDJAM%S%DLASDASDDK!!!!! No but really.) to the direction to the soundtrack to the fierce women to the glorious cracktasticness. And it's such a clever film too, I loved the use of the different languages and how the accents were played.
One of my favourite film of the year (possibly the best ?) and a million times better than say, the last four Tarantino films which is saying something since I luvs them.
I see a little Tarantino rewatchathon in my future *__*

So when are we going to see it again and who's with me ? :D

On the telly front I still have to watch the final episode of Desperate Romantics, which I'm sure rocks and the Dexter season 4 premiere.
I've also caught up with 10 Things I Hate About You and despite being initially against the concept since I adore the film, I ended up loving it ! Nothing spectacular but it's a solid show and the characters are mostly their own. It's fresh and silly, the episodes are only 20 minutes long and it's really entertaining and addicting.

I'm incredibly excited about the new telly seasons and I REALLY CAN'T WAIT for new Derren Brown, new House (YES PLZ), new Merlin, new Spn and new Dollhouse (especially with all the casting spoilers of win) ! And of course I'm dying and would give my left kidney and/or unborn child for new Doctor Who but we still have to wait a bit more I think >_
rosengirl: (TMB : Howard/Vince Man and Wife)
Nothing HP related, hopefully (even if I'm writing this with the Very Potter Musical playing in the background *needs that soundtrack to be out more than she needs air)

First there's the 100 reasons to watch Criminal Minds picspam which made me LMAO.

And then Noel and Julian's first ever appearance in an american talk show :

It's classic Noel/Julian banter and is absolutely lovely. I CANNOT believe that Julian cracked the first joke. He looks so at ease now O.O (and he is letting his hair grow back \o/)
Now if only someone would stop Noel from wearing his shiny boots I WOULD BE FOREVER GLAD. I'm so sick of them D:
I do believe them when they say that they plan to do a film and a new series which is why it will never happen.
GET TO WORK YOU FILTHY AMERICAN PLEASING LAZY WANKERS !

Last week and yesterday I spent some time with [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss squeeing mindlessly and continuously about Harry Potter seing awesome films that I was too lazy to review.

We saw The Reader which I loved for its actors, its dubious morality and the overall gorgeousness.

We discovered David Kross who played the young Michael Berg and the least I can say is that he is very gifted in every way and his career will probably be worth following.

Hullo thar )

They had crazy hawt chemistry and he was extremely pretty when he cried *___*

Of course Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes were, as expected, brilliant.

Yesterday we saw The Young Victoria for the ever so sumptuous Emily Blunt, which we both fell in love with since we saw Sunshine Cleaning together and she was again delicious.

Paul Bettany and Rupert Friend were also excellent and yummy. Oh and it had unexpected!ORSUM Jim Broadbent <3333333333333333

After the film we came to the conclusion that victorian fashion should totally come back for men. There's really nothing more dashing and sexier than all those layers of gorgeous fabric.
rosengirl: (John S. hotass with a sword)
I'm having this awesome trip to Scotland planned with some fellow fangirls in august and I decided to watch or rewatch some films like Braveheart or Highlander to get me in the mood before we go. I was chatting with a coworker and he was scandilized that I had never seen Rob Roy so he lent it to me.

IT WAS SO AWESOME <3

Liam Neeson and Tim Roth were magnificent and made me flail into oblivion. Also, they had the BEST SWORD FIGHT EVER.

Of course the most spectacular scene for me was Liam Neeson getting out of that lake stark naked. What a fine human specimen indeed *__*
rosengirl: (ST : GQ motherfucker)
I saw [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy and [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc and went 4 times to the cinema in the last 2 days to see Coraline, Sunshine Cleaning, The Boat That Rocked (for the second time) and good ol' Start Trek (for the third).

Sunshine Cleaning was a little feel good film with awesome performances from the cast. Amy Adams and Emily Blunt were completely believable as sisters and I had a *massive* crush on Emily's character.

Coraline in 3-D was also awesome if a bit long. And the 3-D glasses got uncomfortable at some point. But it was stunningly gorgeous so it was worth it.

TBTR and ST were rewatched with great pleasure, especially for TEH MOTHERBITCHY DOCTOR NOT PHYSICIST GQ MOFO LEONARD 'BONES' MCCOY in ST's case :)

The trailer for 500 Days of Summer has been released and I AM SERIOUSLY EXCITED BY THE JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT/ MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER COMBO :

It also looks quite decent and cute for a romantic comedy. Still loling at the prospect of MGG not playing a sweet nerdy guy, though.

And now for the pimpage of the day, there's this vote going on to know who the ultimate HBIC (Head Bitch In Charge) is and I spend my afternoon voting for lots and lots of HBIC already nominated.
I also just nominated Penelope Garcia and Alex Drake because they also need love, so go vote ^^
rosengirl: (Like Minds : Alex and Nigel soulmates)
OMFG.

LITTLE PICSPAM OF TRUFAX FIERCE SLASHINESS (no spoilers) )

I loved James Sturridge in The Boat That Rocked because he was so adorable but here he's just *WILD HAND MOTIONS* one of the evilest little fucked up slut I have ever seen.

Eddie Redmayne was also brilliant and their chemistry is INSANE.

Lazy sunday

rosengirl: (Actors : Anton Yelchin's lil bedhead)
I watched Charlie Bartlett today and it was funny and so very sweet <3 Anton was once again brilliant and owned the leading role. And now I got to see him punch Robert Downey Jr in the face, which made my life complete, obviously. Oh and he kissed MGG's girlfriend, which by association... Also makes my life complete *grin*

One of my favourite scenes was Anton talking like a girl, waving his hands in the most fabulous ways and talking about his first period (INORITE). Hilariousness ensued :

Since I am pimping I also saw this incredible New Who/Star Trek TOS xover today and I may have spazzed a bit :

Trying to get my hands on the original series right now but my computer has decided to be extremely slow :/
rosengirl: (ST : Chekov can do zat)
So I met with [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss and [livejournal.com profile] ephyse for a delicious brunch at starbucks and we brought our external hardrives to swap some goodies, like the massive geeks we are.

It was awesome as expected and my only tiny frustration was that nobody I know was up to date with Ashes to Ashes so I couldn't gush over... )

Then we moved to the Champs Elysées to meet with [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc and enjoy an afternoon at the cinema with Star Trek and Terminator Salvation.

Star Trek was even better the second time for me because I could enjoy the characters even more knowing how it would go and it may had to do with being with a row of fangirls but it felt gayer XD
Bones and Chekov are my definite favourites. I'm still totally rooting for Kirk and his stupid ways <3
It must be said that we went totally nuts every time Chekov was on screen. We loled for the whole room (since the room wasn't very responsive to begin with :/).

After that I was more than excited to spend two more hours squeeing my head off at Anton Yelchin in T4.

Well, he did make a delectable, nomable, adorable Kyle Reese but the film in itself left me stone cold. Completely soulless. I didn't care about the characters, I never felt the importance of what was at stake and I was emotionless from beginning to end. That is an exploit since I'm one of the easiest person to laugh or cry when seeing a film. But in that particular case this was my face the whole way through : :-|
Oh and Christian Bale gave me proof that he can no longer carry a film as the lead. He was *so* cringeworthy and excrutiating in some parts that it was embarassing.

Of course it may have been a terrible idea to see it right after THE UTTER WIN THAT IS Star Trek but oh well.

I shall get my hands on Charlie Bartlett to marvel at the wonders of Teh Yelchin once more, and rewatch criminal minds 2x14/2x15 since [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy is currently texting me to death about it (first time she's watching them OMG <3)
rosengirl: (FOTC : Bret & Jemaine are folkers)
The Boat That Rocked well... ROCKED.

Stunning cast (I knew about Chris O'Dowd but I had no idea that Katherine Parkinson was also on the crew ! As the adorable lesbian <3 IT Crowd actors FTW), especially Bill Nighy who's just fabulous and Jack Davenport for making Twatt somewhat cute as hell. Rhys Darby was complete love and Nick Frost was also awesome even if I still have issues whenever he or Simon aren't in a film together, irrational I know.
The film also had some very nice moments of eyecandy and a decent level of slash, which didn't hurt !

The characters were all endearing and the film made me grin from ear to ear (and die of laughing the rest of the time) the whole way through (shortest 2h15 evar, could have stayed longer). The soundtrack was obviously made of 57 flavours of win. We clapped at the end along with the rest of the theater.

Definitely one of the top films of the year.

Richard Curtis ILU.

In other news, I just saw the finale of Dollhouse and all I have to say is ASKDMALDJAMLSDJASDLAJDAMDJASMLDJADMSLSDJA.

I am very sad to see this one go after such an AMAZING last episode.
Alan Tudick will remain in my top 3 teevee psychos as Alpha, OF ALL TIME. I ADORE HIM EVEN MORE NOW THAN I DID AS WASH IN FIREFLY OR AS THE STONED DUDE IN DEATH AT A FUNERAL. HE IS MINDBLOWING AND MIGHTY.
Also they totally redeemed the character of Tahmoh with the last couple of scenes of the episode. PAUL WAS MADE OF COMPLETE WIN AT THE END, there, I said it.
I hope we'll be able to see ep 113 someday and that it won't leave things as open as this one did.

I can't believe how good that show had become. I will miss you, show <3
rosengirl: (DW : old skool three era of pwnage)
First of all, Jon Pertwee on Gotcha.
I saw this last night and am now bursting with love for the guy. He seemed to be the sweetest, most patient and loveable man ever.
Three will always remain one of my favourite Doctor of them all ♥

Then instead of doing some work today (I know) I watched two films and come bearing reviews.

Ryan Gosling once again BLEW MY MIND with Lars and the Real Girl. He's one of the best actors I have ever seen and I have yet to find a bad film with him. He always picks interesting and challenging roles and never fails to suprise me.

The film in itself was quietly beautiful and heart warming. I loved the sobreity of the direction and the intimacy of the piece. Gosling was again completely transformed and succeeded to make the emotion of his character feel real out of a ridiculous situation.
Of course it's not entirely perfect because you have to have a great big suspension of belief regarding the general reaction of the community he lives in but it wasn't too hard and it didn't put me off.
I won't pimp the trailer because it makes it look like a silly comedy and that couldn't be more wrong.

Now the second one, not that I've actually seen it or anything *of course* hum.. But it was quite good :D

X-Men Origins : Wolverine )
rosengirl: (Watchmen : Rorschach is hardcore)
So, hurm, Watchmen.

How can I say it without shouting...

THAT IT IS FUCKING MAGNIFICENT AND I AM IN COMPLETE AWE BECAUSE THEY SUCCEEDED TO EXCEED MY INSANE EXPECTATIONS.

The film is breathtakingly superb. You can really tell that Zack Snyder is a true fan of the comics by how much care and respect he put into making this.

The cast is incredibly, and by that I mean incredibly impressive and they brought the characters to life not only realisticly but with ease.

The soundtack is 57 flavours of epic awesome and really contributes to make the atmosphere of the film completely unique.

I would say that as a whole, it was 99% perfect, and that's only because I nitpick a tiny tiny bit )

In any case, I have no doubts that this is my all time favourite comic book film and that it will be hard to beat in the future.

We were five to see it ([livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss and the Bro) and only two to have read the graphic novel and yet, *everyone* loved it to bits. The other three even want to read the graphic novel now ^^

The film is rated PG-13 in France because we always rate lower than in the US but I must say, that's the first time that I think their rating wasn't exagerated. It is EXTREMELY violent and gory and by that I mean HARDCORE. 300 looks like the care bears compared to this one.
I would have rated it R myself.

I am dying to see it again, I am dying to be in London already to see it in all its IMAX epic glory and I am dying to see the 3h10 version.

To conclude, I'd like to say that ce film, c'est comme se prendre une immense baffe dans la gueule and I mean that in the best way possible (pardon my french :p).
rosengirl: (Watchmen : Ozymandias close up)

That film just confirmed to me that Matthew Goode is a terrific actor and both he and Joseph Gordon-Levitt acted their heart out in it.

The film is a tight little thriller, it's well excecuted with lots of angst and personal issues.
The story was totally gripping and pretty much everything else was outstanding. This is a definite must see !

I am dying more than ever to finally see Matthew play Adrian ! (D-3)

rosengirl: (Matthew Goode : class you has it)
I watched Brideshead Revisited this afternoon, mostly to satisfy my growing Matthew Goode love (next on the line : The Lookout with bonus Joseph Gordon-Levitt ♥) and I rather liked it !
I am not familiar with the book or the series but it was a good film on its own right. I loved the way it was shot, Matthew was both drop dead gorgeous and magnificent as Charles and Ben Whishaw was also amazing. Charles and Sebastian's relationship was beautifully showed but I admit that my greedy self would have liked MOAR than one little kiss, even if it was really, really perfect. However, the heavy innuendos were absolutely *delightful*.
I really loved and was into most of the film but it ended when Charles visited Sebastian in Morocco for me, the last part felt completely tedious and dragged on forever. The very end with the candle was lovely, though.

Yesterday we went to see Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and if it was to fuel my Lee Pace love at first, the film was also very lovely.
Lee Pace was adorable and made us die during the singing part and the rest of the cast was good as well. I particularly loved Amy Adams and Shirley Henderson's performances.
The film was just a joyful piece and we had a good time.

It was set roughly during the same period as Brideshead so I'm surprisingly coherent in my watching today.

OT : I just realised that if I am loving Ozymandias hardcore it may be because of all the things he has in common with my former hardcore love : SV's Lex Luthor. They're both Alexander the Great n°1 fan, utterly fabulous, clever (ok so one's the cleverest man who's ever clevered), LOVE PURPLE (LIKE, A LOT), incredibly rich and have the GREYEST moral code from GREYSVILLE.

And four days left til Watchmen btw *melts*
