rosengirl: (Misfits : Simon/Alisha Contrast)
Your main fandom of the year?
The Nuke/Jansis fandom which won't let go of my balls thanks to the many talented and lovely people and Van & Jake being pretty busy since the end of the show.

Your favorite film watched this year?
It's a tie between A Single Man because it was visually flawless and Colin just PWNED, The Social Network because Jesse Eisenberg was extremely impressive, the pace and dialogue were incredible and GARFIELD and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World because my expectations were so high that I never thought it'd meet them, and yet it did. 200% fun and quotable.

Your favorite book read this year?
Nerds Do Well by Simon Pegg

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Albums : Mumford and Sons' 'Sigh No More', Vampire Weekend's 'Contra', Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' 'Up From Below', Arcade Fire's 'The Suburbs'
And my favourite (somewhat fandom related) songs are Spanish Sahara by the Foals which is just incredibly gorgeous and Darren Criss's version of Teenage Dream.

Your favorite TV shows of the year?
Doctor Who and I bow down before Moffat and Smith who ruled their first year, Sherlock which just came out of nowhere and was so amazing and slashy I could cry (thanks again, Moffat and OMG HAI BENEDICT HAI) and MISFITS MISFITS MISFITS which blew my brains out with the epicness of s2. UK telly just owns my soul.
ETA : also, Community s2 because space mission in a simulator sponsored by KFC, Zombies in halloween costumes, Monkey stealing purple pen and Stop motion christmas. HOW AMAZING IS THIS.

Your favorite LJ community of the year?
[livejournal.com profile] luke_noah be still my nukie heart.

Your best new TV discovery of the year?
Sherlock which was clearly too short for its brilliance and I've had a tremendous amount of cracky fun catching up with True Blood, which I never saw before.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
The last couple of months of ATWT which screwed everyone over. But my love for the boys had always little to do with the show so thanks for nothing but *turns to hugely more competent fic writers and drowns self into fixit fics*

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
LOL as if I had one : Eleven, Rory Williams, Eric Northman, Gene Hunt, Luke Snyder, Noah Mayer, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Nathan Young, Simon Bellamy, Merlin, Arthur Pendragon, Gwaine, Deniz Ozturk, Roman Wild, Christian Mann, Oliver Sabel, Charlie McDonnell, Alex Day... Definitely the Luke & Noah in paris event in July. Meeting the guys. I just. I still can't really wrap my head around it *g*

The most missed of your old fandoms?
Queer As Folk because I've started to watch everything again and met Randy in october so I had a big rush of nostalgia this year. That fandom ate my life for 3 years, after all.

The TV you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Downton Abbey, Leverage (well I've seen the pilot but plan to watch more soon), The Vampire Diaries (seems bad but is praised a lot so I'm curious), Breaking Bad, Modern Family, 30 Rock and Fringe.

I AM SORRY BECAUSE I ALREADY SPAMMED TWITTER EARLIER BUT IT DESERVES ITS OWN POST.

People who are not watching that *incredible* uk show called Misfits well, you're missing out BIG TIME.
Series 1, which was already spectacular, is only 6 episodes and we're halfway through series 2 (3 eps aired) so it's easy to catch up!
So far, series 2 is blowing my mind a little more each week, I may lose sanity by the end of the series.

BUT OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!11!!!!!1!!!1

LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE JUST.

SIMON.

S.I.M.O.N.

Simon is fast becoming one of the best character in the history of EVER. Also, mind is blown with HOW HOT HE WAS IN THIS. Also,

IWAN RHEON'S ACTING PERFORMANCE WAS STELLAR.

EPIC. EPIC SPOILERY PICSPAM OF 203 BEHIND THE CUT. )

Basically, this episode kept me from functioning all day. IT WAS THAT GOOD.

WATCH MISFITS, Y'ALL.

OH. And in other news, we managed to get tickets for the Glee summer tour in Manchester next year. This means seing DARREN and CHRIS and the others singing live ! I AM EXCITE.
rosengirl: (ATWT : Jake PANTING + TATOO OMG)

Another favorite of mine behind the cut + link )

I suck at posting these days, meh. I'm busy watching 1646541644156 things and I'm too lazy to write about it.
I'd just like to point out that everyone should watch Raising Hope and make it not disappear from FOX because IT IS AWESOMESAUCE. I can't link the trailer because it spoils the pilot too much. I just can say that it reminds me of Malcolm in the Middle in tone, a little.

Aunty Beebs released the trailer for the new dramas and proved once again why they pwn the universe :

I promptly got my hands on several drama I missed back in the spring : Lennon Naked, The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister and Van Gogh Painted with words (Benedict <3). I added two older ones starring Benedict, Hawking and Stuart A Life Backwards (with bonus Tom Hardy !).

AMDLKADMLKASLDK IN OTHER NEWS I JUST RECIEVED THE BRILLIANT BOOK OF DOCTOR WHO WHILE WRITING THIS AND IT IS GORGEOUS AND FUNNY AND EPIC *CLIIIIIINGS*
rosengirl: (Community : nope not me nevaaar)
It's Van's 29th birthday today and just like she did for Jake in june, Moey did another awesome PICSPAM OF EPICNESS.

Dear Van,

Stay this pretty forever.

Love, me.

Tv week has been extremely busy for me but it was mostly good.

Merlin 301 : EPIC AND SLASHY AS HELL. I also love Merlin and Morgana's rivalry and Uther is a fierce mofo, the end.

Him and Her 103 : I love this show ! Nothing happens and they're all awkard yet it works.

The Inbetweeners 302 : so far the new series is awesome ! I still love them all except for will but his fail in this one made me lol. As a gig lover, this ep spoke to me XD

Boardwalk Empire 1x01 : Great pilot, awesome characters, superb cinematography. MICHAEL PITT.

Chuck 4x01 : Quite good. Very nice guest star, loved Chuck and Morgan teaming up.

House 7x01 : AWFUL UGH. Only scene I liked was Wilson trying to break in. I quite liked Chase and 13 but the rest was like a bad fic. EXCRUTIATING. I don't think I'll be watching next week.

HIMYM 6x01 : All right, nothing amazing but I liked Marshall and Robin.

Gossip Girl 4x02 : The Chuck/Blair scene KILLED ALL. Serena's outfit hurt my eyes.

Glee 2x01 : awesome premiere ! I really like the new characters (hai thar Randy Harrison's doppelganger) and it was so nice to see the old ones again.

Running Wilde 1x01 : LOVED IT. Will Arnett and Peter Serafinowicz can talk to each other forever because it makes me melt. They're also hilarious and I now want a tiny horse.

Hellcats 1x03 : I SHIP EVERYONE IN THIS. It's not like the best show ever but I've become quite fond of it. Gale was in it this week, as gorgeous as ever *g*

Criminal Minds 6x01 : Loved Morgan's manpain, still liked Tim Curry as the unsub but the episode was average.

Community 2x01 : BEST RETURN SO FAR, HANDS DOWN. I loved everything about it TO DEATH.

The Big Bang Theory 4x01 : Lovely premiere as well ! The date was hilarious, Howard was too.

The Office 7x01 : Good premiere too. I missed Andy the most OMGLOVE <3 The lipdub was full of fail and awesome at the same time.

Supernatural 6x01 : not as bad as I feared but not especially great either. We'll see.

Day 02 - A show you wish more people were watching
Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)
Day 04 - Your favorite show ever
Day 05 - A show you hate
Day 06 - Favorite episode of your favorite TV show
Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite TV show
Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

Day 09 - Best scene ever )

In the last couple of days I watched Bunny and the Bull and Boy A (with that cutie Andrew Garfield). The former was extremely charming with stunning visuals, excellent music and truly sad moments. It made me want to watch the Mighty Boosh again hard.
The later was also very good. Garfield (ah ! I love only using his last name) gave a brilliant performance and you *had* to root for his character, which made the film all the more heartbreaking ;___ ; .
I did a non spoilery picspam of the film here.

Apart from that, I M IN EXTREME TRUE BLOOD WITHDRAWAL. There was no episode this week due to that silly 4th of July. I AM DISAPPOINT. NEED MOAR VAMPIRE VIKING ERIC.

Also, next week is [livejournal.com profile] nukebigbang which I'm REALLY excited about and... Oh hum there's this little thing this saturday when I get to meet Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann in the flesh. But so far, BRAIN KEEPS SHUTING DOWN when I dare think about it so... OMGIMGONNABEDEADBYTHEN.

Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season) )

I'm up to True Blood 202 AND IT CRACKS ME UP MOAR AND MOAR. Also intentionally, which is a very good sign. Bill having to take care of a teenage vampire is super ludicrous and fun and you know, ALL OF ERIC'S SCENES SO FAR. He is one freakishly tall sex on a stick made of blondness and intimidating piercing eyes. Also his voice. Also, his comic timing.
Apart from that LAFAYETTE BB GET WELL SOON AND BE SPARKLY AGAIN *CLINGS*
rosengirl: (ATWT : Van/Jake GQ MOFO <3)
Vincent and The Doctor was completely brilliant y/y ? It may be my new favourite of the season (and my fave historical ep from all of new who).
Kudos Richard Curtis, Tony Curran and Bill Nighy (for the most awesome cameo ever !). I loved the emphasis on the character's feelings and the continuity with the terrible, soulcrushing thing that happened at the end of the previous episode * LE SIGH*
It had the right amount of darkness, lolz, sadness and sweet moments. I was incredibly moved by it and as a former art student and lover, felt really connected to the story.

This series is simply amazing. I haven't felt so in love with Doctor Who since series 3 (which was the best dw series up until now for me. Unpopular as it may be. Well, less unpopular than series 2 hahaha.).

Let's talk about my two gorgeous, amazing, awesomely talented and busy Favorite Boys of All Time.

Van got a part in a stylish, creepy looking independent horror movie called Occupant.

And then he proceeded to do a tiny itw about it to KILL EVERYONE WITH HIS GORGEOUSNESS.

His hotness should be forbidden, for safety issues and stuff.

As for Jake... OH BOY. Well he's turning into a fine badass mofo tattooed all over to play a dealer in his short film Stuffer. And. Hum. ARE THEY BOTH TRYING TO KILL THEIR FANS ? Coz I've choked on my own drool by that point. That's not on.

Lady, I want your job SFM.

Rest of the stills

My interest for this project just went through the roof. Be still my shallow heart.

Most importantly, I'm meeting these american gods in like, 32 days for the Nuke in Paris event. I DON'T THINK I'M READY. I TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT OR MY HEAD WILL EXPLODE.

Tomorrow in ATWT, THIS HAPPENS :

FUCK YEAH \o/

I mean. ILU Reid but come on ! YOU HAD IT COMING. And now I just can't stop watching Noah punching your face over and over and over again. Also, Luke's face is all "oh well, I guess this was coming" which is LOLERSKATES.

In other news I got mah darling [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss to fall hardcore for Johnny Weir, which makes me INSANELY HAPPY. WE HAVE THE BEST TASTE, TRUFAX. Shutup.
rosengirl: (Thick : Malcom Tucker Scot Pride)
I'm not posting real posts that much these days since my Nuke obsession has gotten in the way.

Good news is I've finished watching the Luke & Noah story on teh YT (and by this I mean I'm up to date in time for today's episode, eh), I can breathe again and relax.

Bad news is OMFG LUKE AND NOAH. OMFG VAN AND JAKE.

I'm so completely smitten with the pairing and the actors (especially Van Hansis, OH BOY. I mean Jake is quite all right these days but Van deserves an Emmy LIKE WOAH. No wonder he's always nominated.) I may keep on rambling about it all for a while. It's been 3 epic weeks of catch up and I made it through hysterical lulz, eyerolling, facepalming, GINORMOUS SQUEE and sometimes tears. I feel like I've known these people for years.

But that's for another post.

I have some things to say about the rest of telly, since I seem unable to review episodes on time anymore.

First of all, I have started watching two awesome brit series which should be highly recommended :

Misfits

This show achieves the exploit of being both stylishly gorgeous and extremely unglamorous. It's a bit nasty and raunchy but a very interesting take on the superhero genre. The characters are intriguing and the acting is good. Actually, Robert Sheehan who plays Nathan is a real scene stealer. He has all the best lines and plays wanker like it's in his blood. He also has a hilarious face and great comedic timing, in other words he rocks my socks off and I luff him !
Three episodes have aired so far and the first series will have six in total.

The Thick of It

Now I have to explain first how I got into this one. A couple of weeks back, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy and I went to see In The Loop which had just been released in theaters (I know it's been months in the UK but I'm surprised it was released over here at all). We went mainly for Tom Hollander and Peter Capaldi and the film was an absolute riot. We loved it to death. I vaguely heard of The Thick of It before but I had NO IDEA that the film we just saw was basically an adaptation of the series with the same characters ! So I threw myself at the first series because I was in need of moar Malcolm Tucker Signature Swearing and I ADORED IT. Must watch the rest asap.

To make an easy description it's kind of like an xover between The Office and The West Wing and it is BLOODY HILARIOUS. One of the funniest, wittiest show I have ever seen.
Evil exists in human form and he is Scottish. Peter Capaldi embodies the purest form of Evil you will ever lay eyes on in the character of Malcolm Tucker. He is both absolutely terrifying and magnificent (I will never be able to see Children of Earth again without finding Frobisher never swearing and being a 'good man' 57 flavours of Wrong.). If he is the Devil incarnate, Jamie McDonald is his personal Hellhound. I love me some scottish wrath.
There's three series (about 6 episodes of 25 mins each) and the last one is currently airing.

Other shows that bring me joy :

White Collar keeps being absolutely fantastic ! It's my feel good show. Neal and Peter have like, the best banter scenes evar. I worship Neal and his sweetness and his fashion sense and his baby blues BUT MOST OF ALL, I can't get enough of Peter's adorkable ways. THE SOCKS IN THE LAST ONE OMG. Also I am madly in love with Elizabeth who totally wears the pants and is the fierce boss of this ménage à trois.

Legend of the Seeker 's second season is A-MA-ZING. Much darker and sexier. Cara makes a wonderful addition to the group and Kahlan is fiercer than ever. As far as guilty pleasures go, this one is much more superior to Merlin as a whole these days, imho.

Community is one of my favourite new show (first place goes to White Collar) and it makes me cry with laughter. It's surprisingly absurd for a US comedy. I adore Abed and Troy (and I totally ship it, yus).

Criminal Minds's 100th episode BROKE ME SO HARD. I was blown away by the brutality and Thomas Gibson's outstanding performance. I love Hotch's arc this season. I'm scared as hell for him and I'm concerned about where this is going but it's really good stuff. Kudos to C. Thomas Howell for his portrayal of The Reaper because he has definitely become my favourite unsub of the entire show.

Merlin is quite hit or miss with me this year. I didn't like the Troll episodes and Witchfinder so much but I LOVED The Sins of the Father and Lady of the Lake in which Bradley and Colin both took turns to blow me away. I wasn't too fond of the last episode, Sweet Dreams because I found it a bit pointless and meh. I did like Georgia and the Arthur/Gwen stuff though. Next week looks awesome.

House's 6th season rocks my socks more than ever. I love House and Wilson living together, I love Cuddy/Lucas and I am THRILLED by the departure of Cameron and the return of Taub (who was excessively FTW along with Chase last week) and 13. I can't even begin to describe the length of my excitement for tonight's episode. If it doesn't turn out to kill me dead with ORSUM I will be pretty fucking pissed.

The Office's 6th season is also incredible and totally deserves to be mentioned. It's way more bittersweet than outright funny this year but it feels very rewarding in terms of character development. Especially for Michael and Andy.

Last but not least Doctor Who makes me happier than ever. I know that it's not even on for another 25 days but I feel the hype something fierce.

HAPPY FUCKING CHRISTMAS!

Actually I also have concrete Who love since I've started a quick best of marathon of new who episodes. Parting of the Ways and Girl in the Fireplace in particular are still spectacular to watch. Incredible episodes.

ETA : totally blanked Glee for shame ! It's also making me joyful these days. ♥Manipulative!Kurt♥
rosengirl: (ST : Chekov can do zat)
So I met with [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss and [livejournal.com profile] ephyse for a delicious brunch at starbucks and we brought our external hardrives to swap some goodies, like the massive geeks we are.

It was awesome as expected and my only tiny frustration was that nobody I know was up to date with Ashes to Ashes so I couldn't gush over... )

Then we moved to the Champs Elysées to meet with [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc and enjoy an afternoon at the cinema with Star Trek and Terminator Salvation.

Star Trek was even better the second time for me because I could enjoy the characters even more knowing how it would go and it may had to do with being with a row of fangirls but it felt gayer XD
Bones and Chekov are my definite favourites. I'm still totally rooting for Kirk and his stupid ways <3
It must be said that we went totally nuts every time Chekov was on screen. We loled for the whole room (since the room wasn't very responsive to begin with :/).

After that I was more than excited to spend two more hours squeeing my head off at Anton Yelchin in T4.

Well, he did make a delectable, nomable, adorable Kyle Reese but the film in itself left me stone cold. Completely soulless. I didn't care about the characters, I never felt the importance of what was at stake and I was emotionless from beginning to end. That is an exploit since I'm one of the easiest person to laugh or cry when seeing a film. But in that particular case this was my face the whole way through : :-|
Oh and Christian Bale gave me proof that he can no longer carry a film as the lead. He was *so* cringeworthy and excrutiating in some parts that it was embarassing.

Of course it may have been a terrible idea to see it right after THE UTTER WIN THAT IS Star Trek but oh well.

I shall get my hands on Charlie Bartlett to marvel at the wonders of Teh Yelchin once more, and rewatch criminal minds 2x14/2x15 since [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy is currently texting me to death about it (first time she's watching them OMG <3)
rosengirl: (NMTB : Cutest. Bastard. Evar.)
I don't really have time to do proper entries these days thanks to my big end of the year Project Report of Doom and my finals so I probably won't be able to post more than the occasonial tweet batch for the next two weeks. Of course that's already what I've been doing this last week. In fact I shouldn't even write this post but oh well.

I'll get my reaction to this week's teevee out of the way then.

Ashes to Ashes 205 )

Criminal Minds 4x25 - 26 To Hell... And Back )

House, Supernatural and now Criminal Minds...

Dear shows,

ENOUGH WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS ALREADY.
I DO LOVE YOU AND WILL KEEP ON WATCHING WITHOUT THOSE DAMN NAIL BITING, EXTRA FRUSTRATING ENDINGS.
DAMN YOU ALL.

Ambiguous love,

Me.

In other news I'm currently rewatching Queer as Folk UK out of the blue and am reminded how fucking brilliant it is.
I love that show for completely different reasons than QaF US because Stuart and Nathan are true unredeemable Epic Arsehole and Twat and should be unlikeable if it wasn't for their fierce loltasticness. They're also obvioulsy not Soulmates Destined to Be Forever Together like Brian and Justin were AND STILL ARE KTHX but they are more subtle, well rounded and realistic characters in a lot of ways.
Of course the true love story here is between Stuart and one adorable Doctor Who Fanboy Vince Tyler so it's not like it's even comparable. I adore their story too, their chemistry and the whole UST thing that Rusty kept intact til the end.
And I love Vince and his awkward adorkable fanboy ways to tiny bits. I really like Cameron as well while I hate David's guts in the US version. I'm very excited to see him in Wars of the Master the Waters of Mars later this year. They should totally ask him to name all the Doctors again in the Confidential XD

I'm mostly LMAO because I didn't remember that the series had so many Old Who references and I'm quite amused because I'm getting them all now.

OH AND BTW PAUL MCGANN TOTALLY COUNTS, YOU TWATS.

Rusty, bless your little fanboy heart ♥

Eventually this rewatching should lead me to a QaF US Marathon of Doom this summer. It's about time I think. I would be glad to discover my BJ love all over again.

In other other news, I'm totes seeing Simon Amstell'show with [livejournal.com profile] ephyse and [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss in October, WOOT ! And it will be a week after Tim Minchin'show which [livejournal.com profile] ephyse got me a ticket for my birthday. October 2009 will be remembered as SPAZZING MONTH OF EPIC FANNISH GLEE, I TELL YA.

And nooooooooooow back to work, GO ME.
rosengirl: (L&O UK : Alesha/James OTP)
I just caught up with Law & Order : UK and that series is just completely brilliant.

I loved the stories and each episodes, I'm really attached to the characters now and I can't wait for the rest of the series to air (in september right ?)

The last episode was very upsetting and hard to watch but can I just say... Freema blew me away and had me in tears. That was probably her best performance yet and I defy anyone who thinks that she's not good to just watch that episode and not change their mind. I am bursting with love for her at the moment <333

I love the dynamics between the characters in the show. The two teams are really well balanced and the actors have crazy chemistry. Jamie Bamber is absolutely adorable as Matt and I LOVE LOVE LOVE his bromance with Ronnie and I don't slash them at times. At all. *cough* But as much as I love them and the Law part of the show, what really fascinates me is the Order part with the prosecutors. Alesha and James. ALESHA AND JAMES OMG. I must admit that I do love them all but I am SERIOUSLY infatuated with James Steel because he is so passionate for Alesha his job. Ben Daniels owns the show and I am completely head over heels for him.
I adore that he is Alesha's mentor figure and I love their relationship. And yes, by that I mean that I ship them like burning. I love how Matt is always cutely flirting with Alesha when she has absolutely no clue because she only seems to have eyes for James (and that's understandable because as much as Jamie Bamber makes me drool, HE HAS NOTHING ON BEN DANIELS *__*). My favourite episode so far remains 104 - Unsafe because of the Epic James Angst which was all kinds of hawt and the flailage over the James/Alesha scenes.

After Alesha I kinda want to read H/C James/Alesha fics, if someone could rec me some (or any kind of J/A fics for that matter), I would be forever grateful ^^
rosengirl: (Being Human : Mitchell&Annie&the telly)
I JUST.

THIS SHOW KILLS ME WITH AMAZINGNESS.

IT IS SURPRISINGLY ALWAYS INCREASING IN QUALITY EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

MADE OF PUPPIES AND RAINBOWS ONE MINUTE AND INCREDIBLY DARK AND VIOLENT THE NEXT.

IT'S DARING, IT HAS INTELLIGENT WRITING AND CHARACTERS ENDLESSLY FASCINATING.

Oh and I want a Mitchell of my own, kthx.

some specifics )

I couldn't be happier with the show. Next week looks YET AGAIN, 57 flavours of A-MA-ZING.
rosengirl: (Merlin : M/A like you could hide it *sno)
The Merlin extras, man ♥
They made me fall in love with the cast all over again ! They definitely make the sweetest, most fun and easy going cast ever, by the look of it.
Colin was adorable, BRADLEY just totally and *utterly* priceless and Katie surprised me in a very good way.
I just loved when Colin controls planes with magic and when Bradley fake!bullies him. They all seem to get on so well <3

The No Heroics extras were also all kinds of GREEEEAAAT.
The creator of the series is a ginormous comics geek and about 16015344356 comics references were hidden in the Fortress, which they all listed here. He was mostly inspired by Watchmen

The making of showed yet another fun crew of lovely people but I'm afraid there's a very final feel to it. They took down the Fortress set halfway through shooting (I yelled ' OH NO !') and they showed the last day the actors were all together and they did an emotional group hug.
Ah well, it will be another one of those extremely short english masterpieces, like Nathan Barley ;__;

The bloopers were funny and the Power Hour interviews were *hilarious* especially the Excelsior one and the Timebomb one XD
Timebomb has also 2 extended scene, one with Fusebox in the toilets (filthier) and one with the Prince in the limo (just LULZ).

Ah Timebomb <3

I also watched Dollhouse and here are my mixed feelings about it )

I am willing to stick with it until it's cancelled to give it the chance to find its tone, though, because it wasn't completely horrible.
rosengirl: (BSSM : Usagi & Makoto total fangirls)
Yesterday was let's go to the movies day with [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy and we saw two very different ones.

Yes Man with Jim Carrey and Bradley Cooper (♥) was a fluffy fun feel-good flick with lots of geekery and adorableness.
It was a bit weird to see Jim Carrey in a silly role after so much time but he still can be funny.
When he had kissing scenes with his love interest I kept thinking 'TEEHEE, next time we see you in a film you'll be sucking faces with Ewan'. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc, the little voice is still there :p)

Next on our program was The Strange Case of Benjamin Button and it was, as hoped and expected, truly fantastic !
The actors were incredibly good, the story was stunningly beautiful and the FX/Makeup'sheer brilliance really helped to make the whole concept believable.
When the lights switched on again, Cath and I were both in tears clutching our hankies XD

Then last night was spent mostly with miss [livejournal.com profile] ephyse on msn squeeing and working on her new lj layout. Her interests were so inspiring that it really was done more for the fun of it than anything.

Today was a lovely day in Paris celebrating [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss'birthday with [livejournal.com profile] ephyse, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy, [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc and [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall. Much gossip, squeeing, doodles and gifts ensued. The pimpage of the day was definitely Whitechapel, prompted by myself and [livejournal.com profile] tya_rc (when she finally got there).

Oh yes because these last few days I watched it and never took the time to talk about it but I loved it to pieces ! The role suits Rupert Penry Jones in a very unexpected yet awesome way. And bonus Life on Mars vibes + Jack the Ripper = ME LIKEY V. MUCHO.

I'm also catching up on BSG 4.b (haven't seen the 2 parters yet) and OMFRAKKINGGODTHETWISTS!! I have suspicions for the real ending after seing 411 that I hope will come partly true. I harrassed the bro to catch up with it because he's the only one I could squee with about BSG and he did and we talked about it at length last night and I felt relieved afterwards XD

HAPPY BEING HUMAN DAY BTW !

Being Human

Feb. 1st, 2009 10:03 pm
rosengirl: (Being Human : Polo joke)
The new pilot is AMAZING ! And that is saying something because I adored the original and was strongly opposed to the changes planned for the series.

But as it turns out, I liked everything better :

The new Annie is much more touching and the new Mitchell is less of a cliché and 10 times hotter, George is still killing me with woobie love. Their relationship was more interesting and I found them completely heartbreaking.

The story had a better structure and the pace was more dynamic.

I also spotted DW'Shakespeare in the preview of tonight's episode <3

If the rest is going to be remotely as good as this, I am definitely very excited for the series !
rosengirl: (PA : Danny/Scott in ur personal space)
Oh bollocks I want a series 2 of Party Animals now ! *BLOODY FRUSTRATED*

It was way too brilliant to only give 8 episodes to the world.

Aw Scott and Danny, Scott and Ashika, Danny and über biatch Kristy ! Drunk!Jo ! Ashika and cynical gay!Matt's BFFNESS !

*pets lovely show and buggers off to amazon*

I'll also get my hands on Matt's episode of the Street because I only heard good things about it. <3

I have now the choice to either :

Watch Roman's Empire with Chris O'Dowd, Matt Horne, Nicholas Burns and Montserrat Lombard. Another potentially great show which never had a second series, but hum, HAI CAST.

Watch Snuff Box, because TEH FULCHER, for one is at the very top of my favourite people evar list right now (no, I don't know exactly why) and Matt Berry's voice is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world.

Finish Oz season 6 but I DON'T WANT IT TO END DAMNIT.

Pop my Two cherry. I have the Mind Robber and the Invasion but I don't know which one is best to start with.

I'm also interested in catching up with the League of Gentlemen and Little Britain, or at least try both.
rosengirl: (PA : Danny doubts you)
YOU GUYS, MATT SMITH IS ABSO-FUCKINGLY-LY BRILLIANT AS DANNY FOSTER IN PARTY ANIMALS ! ♥

I'm up to 106 and I had to get that out of my chest ^^

So Party Animals is GREAT. It's more of a glorified soap set in a political context than a real drama about politics but the cast and the stories are really good and you can't stop watching it !
OF COURSE, it doesn't hurt that the series' real focus is about the lives of two brothers (Danny and Scott Foster) living together and being incredibly suspiciously close cute and domestic <33333

Danny is an idealistic, borderline naive but extremely clever researcher working for Labour Home Office Junior Minister Jo Porter. He is completely devoted to his work, socially challenged and very awkward. In other words he is ADORKABLE.
Scott is a lobbyist who works for a firm keen on making friends with the Tory party. He is a gorgeous prick but has sweet sweet moments of vulnerability. Still a prick, though. He cares deeply about his little brother.
When I say care, I mean glomping, hair ruffling, guilty crisis and occasional cry in each other's arms. Oh yes.

We follow two teams of young researchers, Danny and Kristy (Andrea Riseborough from Being Human and the Devil's Whore ♥) from the Labour HQ and Matt and Ashika who work for Shadow Minister James Northcote (Patrick Baladi aka Excelsior from No Heroics !). It's quite interesting to have a critical view on both sides.

Apart from Danny, the characters aren't nice and they all have personal agendas, which is perfect to depict people in politics.

I love pretty much all of them, even if I mainly watch to have Matt making me flail like mad. HE IS SO GOOD.
There's something definitely doctorish about him in the way he moves. He's quite... Fidgety. He has great charisma too and he proved me that he can easily be leading man material.
I can't unsee it now.

I am 600% convinced that he will do great things in DW and just, yes let it be 2010 already (sorry Dave !).

EDIT : if *that* doesn't finish to convince you to watch then, er, you are bloody weird !

brotherly love ) /end EDIT.

I did cap the hell out of it and made some textless icons, mostly for myself but I thought I'd share teh love :

Merlin was superb last night.

They are fantastic at crack but I really have a thing for the darker episodes.

I'm reviewing this from memory so I may forget a ton of stuff.

Merlin 112 - To Kill A King )

I've just finished watching my Kaamelott Livre V dvd boxset which was the end of a big watchathon of the whole series and the evolution of the show is even more striking when you watch it all back to back.

Watching Livre V's episodes as they were originally edited (8 x 50') made the season ten times better. The story flow felt more natural and the new opening credits are beautiful.
Livre V is absolutely gorgeous in every aspect and truly heartbreaking.
Arthur's pain is difficult to bear and I just wanted to reach out and hold him. Lancelot is impossible to hate, obviously, because he was misguided and so damn lost (and I did felt the urge to give him a cuddle once or twice, too). Méléagant scares me shitless and that can't be said about a lot of vilains, believe me.
The ending is *such* a downer, a magnificent one, granted, but I did tear up again. I'm excited about the prequel season but I'm also frustrated that we'll have to go through 8 episodes first before we get the cliffhanger's resolution. I'm already rooting for something incredibly slashy involving Arthur, Lancelot and lots of confort, btw.

Can it be fixing tiem for Arthur nao plz plz plz ? ;___;

As for the extras, the Livre VI's teaser is way too frustrating and short but there's A MAGNIFICENT Alexandre Astier interview taking place at the Cinecitta studios which makes me worship him even more now than I already did before. The man is EPIC.

I've also run out of Boosh to rewatch (episodes, live show, extras, interviews and stuff) which is why I'm currently all *SADFACE* and I am now halfway through Nathan Barley again and I'm actually enjoying it more this time around than the first, for some reason. It may have a vague relation to me having recently read the awesome stupid cracklulz that was Fratboy!Arthur's sequel and that the majority of the characters are cracking me up everytime they open their mouth to speak. Or it may have to do with the fact that I'm also reading Barley fics on the side and that I've reluctantly *laughs* jumped on the Dan/Jones bandwaggon. Or simply because JULIAN BARRATT IS HOT LIKE THE BURNING OF A THOUSAND SUNS in this, then again I was already aware of that fact the first time around. I'm not even hating Claire that much now.

On a musical note, after resisting a long time I gave the Ting Tings a chance and promptly fell in love with their album. That was the last thing I expected, d'oh.

My two favourite songs being :

Peace and Fucking , dude and dudettes !

Spent a wonderful day with [livejournal.com profile] ephyse and [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy. The usual : eating deliiiiiicious maki at our favourite japanese restaurant and hanging out at Starbucks. We also went to see Changeling and did a wee bit of shopping afterwards.

Changeling was fantastic even if it was also quite depressing and hard to watch. Angelina Jolie is marvellous in that part and did a really great job at making you feel her character's pain.
I was sucked into the story from beginning to end. It was all that you can expect from your usual Eastwood film.

Eph and I squeed A LOT on the Boosh. We talked about a certain awesome Noelian fic that she linked to me yesterday and even retold it to cath so she wouldn't be left out of teh squee (she didn't seem to care a lot but she loled :p). We also went on and on about last night's IT Crowd episode. Episode which I thought would be a good idea to watch in the train this morning. In public. OMG IT SO WAS NOT.

To my credit...babble about the IT Crowd 302 )

Then again I should have known something was up with this episode when [livejournal.com profile] ephyse sent me a text this morning to threaten me of ignoring me all day if I hadn't seen it before our meet up.

During the bit of shopping, eph pointed me out all the shoes and bits of clothing which reminded her of Noel Fielding and I couldn't stop giggling. It's so easy to please a fangirl's brain it's a little scary.

Ephyse also went to great lengths to remake Camelot, Arthur and Excalibur with bits and pieces of Starbucks cups. The people who sat after us didn't seem impressed but it was for epic lulz.

And that's my transition to say that TIS MERLIN NIGHT. And I haven't seen an episode alone since 106 but I am STILL RATHER EXCITED. Maybe even more by Unicorn lulz than my weekly dose of Epic Gay (which has already been provided, THANK YOU IT CROWD.)
