Torchwood 208 - A Day In The Death

I'm slightly worried. Because Doctor Who series 4 will have to be off the fucking scale awesome to mesure up with the standards set by TW this year.
OMG writing this sentence made my brain hurt O.O
I could just leave it at "I'm literally too cool for school" because it defines perfectly the level of win of both the episode and Owen.
Like, I LOVED LOVED LOVED last week's ep but they managed to top it all here and it blew. Me. Away. SOMETHING FIERCE !
AND THEY'RE KEEPING HIM DEAD AREN'T THEY ?? I thought it would be all sorted out by the end but nooooo. *is amazed*
There's way too much things I loved and the highest points for me would be :
- Martha was cute as a button in her scenes with Owen at the beginning. I really enjoyed their relationship in these 3 episodes.
- My hysterical laugh was probably heard in all of the neighbourhood when Owen suggested Tintin bestiality. I must at least have freaked my parents out. LOVED the Tee as well *rotfl*
- Burn Gorman is amazing.
- Owen made me die when he said sorry to Tosh.
- I loved each interaction he had with the two other characters in the story who were facing death. Those bits were brilliantly scripted and acted.
- I'm not against the idea of Owen/Ianto anymore because how the two best characters of the show paired together could ever be a bad idea ? (I remain faithful to Janto though :p)
- VERY MUCH ENJOYED HOW MARTHA SAID GOODBYE TO JACK, INDEED. Especially the "well everyone else had a go" XD That was soooo very sweet ! See your awesome arse in DW, dear.
So, a few things I didn't enjoy as much :
- Is it me or the more they make the other characters actually interesting, the more Jack becomes... I don't know, blah ? It's been a long time since he hasn't made me squee by himself.
- THEY ROBBED US OF MARTHA/TOSH. I kept hoping for one tiny scene and she didn't even said goodbye to her in the end so it pissed me off a little.
- I kind of loled at next week's trailer but I'm DISGUSTED by the Gwen/Jack snog. DIS-GUS-TED.
EDIT : BLOODY HELL I FORGOT TO MENTION THE PRICELESS FACE IANTO PULLED WHEN JACK TOLD OWEN TO MAKE THE COFFEE AND THEN WHEN IANTO LET OWEN TRY IT OMGSOMUCHLULZ. Now, my review is complete :D

on 2008-02-28 09:58 pm (UTC)I CAN'T BELIEVE I USED TO WATCH TORCHWOOD FOR THE CRACK AND THAT NOW IT HAS BECOME ONE OF TEH. BEST. SHOW. EVAR. FULL STOP.
THAT IS SOME MASTERPIECE, FHEIOAFJIO;AZZDIJOA!
I don't really agree about Martha, because I really was disappointed at how they used her (and although the snog did make me lol, it was kind of pointless, rly), but word on Jack. He's not interesting when he plays it 'insensible arse'.
As for next week : ONE OF THEM'D BETTER BE THE SHAPESCHIFTER OR I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'LL DO. Mind you, objectively, I still find Gwen/Jack kind of hot - mainly because I'd shag both actors - but, Jack, love, YOU DO THAT TO IANTO AND I TEAR YOUR INSIDES APART. NO MATTER HOW HOT GWEN IS, IANTO WILL ALWAYS BE SMOKIN' HOTTER AND HE *LOVES* YOU, MORON.

on 2008-02-29 10:02 am (UTC)I was saying that your text message made me lol because nowadays when you say "Owen ruled everything and Martha was weak" I completely believe you and am not at all put off to watch XD
And we agree on Martha, overall her use in the show was disappointing. She was treated very much like Jack in DW last year : good first episode, underused in the last two. You could have put 'random guest' instead of her and it would have been the same. I wasn't asking for 3 Martha centric but they could have worked her better in the plot.
(I'm anticipating a mess of epic proportions in terms of character treatment for the DW S4 finale with its 15633256 returning guests *facepalm*)

on 2008-02-28 10:07 pm (UTC)Love Martha (yeah, really !). She's sweet, and cute, and hot. And, in reality, I kinda love her arse too... I'm gonna miss her, actually...
Owen is amazing, isn't he ? Burn Gorman is a fucking good actor, I thought it all along the ep. And I was almost crying during all the episode.
I'm not against the idea of Owen/Ianto anymore because how the two best characters of the show paired together could ever be a bad idea ? (I remain faithful to Janto though :p)
*squee on* YEAHHHHHHHHHH !!!! You win !!

OMFG, yes. let me die...
This episode was sooooooooooo good. But the next... I'm not pretty sure I'm gonna love it !
(*cough* OWEN/IANTO FTW !! *cough*)

on 2008-02-29 10:22 am (UTC)Agreed on Burn Gorman that was his best acting performance yet and probably one of the most brilliant we saw in the show so far. He finished to own me last week but now I'm completely worshipping his skills (that I thought were laughable last year, ha !).
As for Owen/Ianto, well I LOVED their interactions in this one so some unpure thoughts poped into my head 2 or 3 times XD
I'm scared of next week as well *bites nails*
