rosengirlI don't know how he pulls it off everytime but he's a dead impressive writer.
IT WAS SO BRILLIANT. I AM A BIT SPEECHLESS RIGHT NOW.
OMG LOVED EVERY SECONDS AND WAS AGAIN SUCKED RIGHT IN.
The Donna part of the story was creepy as hell ! I loved miss Evangelista's unexpected comeback and the dodgy time. Catherine's acting in those scenes was absolutely lovely.
I loved the eerie scenes when the little girl was following the episode through her television screen.
RIVER WAS MADE OF AWESOME. Alex Kingston was truly amazing. She totally kicks ass and was completely credible as someone the Doctor would share a deep connection with and ending up telling her his name. AND SHE PUNCHED HIM HARD AND KNOCKED HIM OUT. I WAS SO IMPRESSED BY HER BY THAT POINT. I kinda liked it better that her true identy was kept unclear because in the end it wasn't really necessary for us to know since the emotions portrayed by the actors was telling enough. I think it added to the tragedy of their last scene together.
The Doctor was ADS%LDJSALDJSA ! Lots of his scenes gave me shivers. His reactions were pitch perfect.
These moments particularly stood out : when River whispered his name to his ear, when he watched her die *tear*, when he snapped his fingers in front of the TARDIS (beautiful shot btw) and when he found out that he was able to save her.
I adored the two Doctor/Donna scenes, especially for "is alright a special timelord code for really not alright at all ?" because Donna is the first companion awesome enough to say it to him and it's made of 57 flavours of pure win. DONNA PLZ PLZ PLZ NEVER LEAVE PLZ ? *INTENSE DENIAL*
I loved that River didn't really die and that the Doctor was allowed to have some kind of happy ending for once. HE GOES THROUGH SO MUCH ALREADY *heartbreaks* so this made a nice change. I also hope that this isn't the last we saw of her, I really liked the character.

on 2008-06-07 11:54 pm (UTC)I was so glad to be spoiler free when I watched this because apart from things already figured out like what "saved" meant I was taken by surprise as well :O
The hand-cuffs like killed me. Dead.
LOLZ INORITE the random handcuff joke right in the middle of the epic drama was GENIUS.
