Journey's End

So this was definitely worth a second watching because I was able to focus on the things I liked much better.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the first 45 minutes and I loathe the last 20.
I'm feeling like I won't be able to do a proper review since it won't be anything that's already been said everywhere.
The team TARDIS of hugeness was incredibly awesome and some scenes when they were all together were so iconic that they're some of my favourite from NewWho ever. So, they didn't have much to do in the end, yes, but they've all had their moments. and MICKEY/JACKY OMG.
The DoctorDonna idea was INCREDIBLE and BRILLIANT. The concept was mindblowing and it was put to good use if you put aside the ending. Donna litteraly shone in this episode and I ADORED seing Tennant and Tate taking each other's mannerisms. I'm going to miss their interactions so hard, god.
So the Daleks and Davros were stopped too easily, obviously but in fact I don't really care because I was too damn DELIGHTED to see Donna PWN their arses this hard.
I LOVED Davros and his megalomaniac ways btw. His scenes with the Doctor were fantastic. I particulary loved the way he taunted him about turning his companions into weapons. Also, Kudos to Julian Bleach, his manical laughing gave me goosebumps, twice !
Other!Ten had potential (as did the 3 Doctors together, like Jack pointed out *approves and wants*) but was obviously mainly used as a cheap ploy to end Rose's story so knowing that, apart from the nekkid! part we could have done without. Because I love the scene were he decides to wipe the Daleks from existence, and Proper!Ten shouting at him was rather hot but the Doctor's behaviour towards him is so sickening and hypocritical that it REALLY doesn't help me to focus on the shallow 'YAYS 2 TENNANTS' reaction I should have had.
DONNA/JACK FOR GREAT JUSTICE !
I still cannot stomach the Bad Wolf Bay scene. There's really nothing and no one to save in this. Proper!Ten is a prick to both Rose (for giving her a cheap consolation price and looking pretty much detached during the whole thing) and Other!Ten (because HAI HYPOCRITICAL! and he knows how miserable a life for him would be without his TARDIS and adventures through Time and Space, yet he punishes his double to exactly that). Rose has lost all the respect she won back from me when she kissed Other!Ten. It started well with her protesting and a few words sufficed to make her accept the man that is NOT the Doctor she loves ? I also hate her for snogging him RIGHT IN THE FACE of Proper!Ten. And I hate Ten for leaving when she's in the middle of it so he can avoid to say goodbye. COME ON ! I can't accept this scene because they're all acting OOC (and I won't even rant about the painfully bad "BUT IM MORTAL I CAN GROW OLD WITH YAH !!1" line from Other!Ten). *CRINGES*
All the icons all over lj are hurting my eyes *sporks*
And it's a real shame because I loved Rose in Turn Left and, while I thought she had nothing much to do in the last two eps, she still had some awesome bits, but I'd rather they never brought her back if it was to give her such a shitty ending. I will probably continue to enjoy her s1 and most of s2 episodes but Doomsday is forever ruined, thank you very much.
On the other hand, I'm starting to come to terms with Donna's ending. The moment when he takes away her memories is VERY HARD to watch because it's brutal. He doesn't leave her a choice and it's the most unfair and frustating scene I have ever seen, simple as that. I want to hate Ten but I can't. He can't accept someone else dying for him and yes, it's selfish but you can really see how much it broke his hearts to do so in the scenes with Donna's family. Those scenes were beautiful. I love how he talks about Donna's achievements and how it pains him that she'll never remember. Those last moments are soul destroying to watch. But I can go with it because of the way the Doctor's soul seem to be as destroyed as mine by the loss of Donna. I've loved Wilf since the beginning but never as much as I did during his last scene with the Doctor. I'm glad Donna still has him to watch over her. And I really hope Moffat will find a trick to bring her back someday.
The last shot of Ten all wet, miserable and alone in the TARDIS broke my heart. He's never been so tired and it really looks like this regeneration is coming to an end. His tenth self has been through too much. I can't see him taking another human companion before a very long time.
HE NEEDS TIMEYS.
Make that Romana, the Master, the Rani, Braxiatel or The Guv, I don't care. This show and this Doctor needs MOAR TIMEYS.
OH AND THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL TEASER :
I don't give a toss about Cybermen but BRING ON TEH MORRISSEY, BITCHES.
Boy I still have to write about the Mika concert and the fangirl gathering weekend of WIN but I'm knackered ! So tomorrow, yes *believes it*

on 2008-07-07 09:52 pm (UTC)Stop trying to explain her actions, SHE WAS OOC. RTD wanted her to snog the Ten lookalike because he didn't have the balls to go all the way and make Proper!Ten and Rose really confront each other about their feelings (I'm not saying that I would have liked a Ten/Rose declaration of twu luv but it could have been done without making it text and without using a cheap cop out).
Donna is also my fave (like I said in mah worship post) and I really don't see Ten taking another companion for the specials right now. He could travel with an older one I guess but I don't see him putting someone new at risk again after all the mess that happened in the finale.

on 2008-07-12 08:35 am (UTC)Ah yes the Master, I'm starting to lose hope a little because I was so sure we'd get at least one tiny mention in the finale, but so do I, so do I.
I couldn't care less about Cybermen but I *LOVE* victorian England and David Morrissey so hopefully it won't be as bad as last year.

on 2008-07-08 01:02 am (UTC)That's exactly how I felt about it, but a lot of people cringe and bitch anyhow.
I thought Rose was pretty great in Turn Left and had potential and then of course RTD just had to go and ruin it.
I don't give a toss about Cybermen but BRING ON TEH MORRISSEY, BITCHES.
OMFG THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!!

on 2008-07-12 08:39 am (UTC)Rose was awesome in Turn Left, I'm torn in wishing she would have just appeared in this and not come back at all. Anyway, I don't want to see her EVER. AGAIN.
OMFG THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!!
We both speak truth *high five*

on 2008-07-12 08:42 am (UTC)Yes, Donna's ending was completely cruel, I've never been this upset about someone leaving a show.
