Dude.

I'm still there. It's been a day since I've gone back and I had an exhausting day at work today but I'm still not convinced I've left London for real.

It was just. Just one of the best weekends I've ever had and definitely the most unforgettable fannish experience to date.

So I will try to not use all of the same pics [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy used in her entry but since I only have her pics to show (my camera's battery died before I could take anything *frowns*) it might be a bit tricky. So hum yeah, sorry for the spam, flist ^^;

Here comes the detailled report of Doom !

The day started with the eurostar being one hour late but at least it gave us our next trip for half the regular price so we can't complain.
We first went to Forbidden Planet, because we're obvious like that, and then Camden to eat (at an awesome Japanese bento restaurant) and spend the afternoon shopping.

Good old Camden Town

Good old punks

Then we headed back to Leceister Square to see that night's performance of Under the Blue Sky with Catherine Tate and Chris O'Dowd and it was completely made of awesome !

The play is divided in 3 acts which focus on three different slices of the life of three couples of teachers who all know each other. Chris was in the first act and his part was both funny and pathetic. Catherine was in the second and it was both hilarious and incredibly disturbing. She was brilliant as usual and I could barely see the stage at some point because I had too many tears of laughter in my eyes (seing her live slapping the hell out of her male co-star definitely made my night, lulz). Judging by the audience's reaction, I must have not been alone having vision troubles.
Act three was bittersweet and touching and it gave the play an upbeat ending which was really needed after the gloomy conclusion of the first two sections.

We had the chance to meet the actors at the stage door afterwards and they were both real sweethearts. I can only praise their patience even if you could feel that they were genuinely happy to meet with the fans.

[livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall (aka Cookie) Catherine and I

Catherine is very sweet and kindness just naturally radiates from her. She has the softest eyes and her hair was gorgeous. Just when I thought I couldn't fall for her more *__*

Me, Chris and [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy

Chris is a good laugh (that's why we burst out laughing when Cookie took the picture XD). He is very natural, easy going and he makes you comfortable from the get go. I totally forgot to ask him if the IT Crowd series 3 was still going to happen like I said I would, which indicates that I was too busy spazzing out.

I wasn't much hungry after that but we went to a Garfunkel restaurant because [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy was starving. I only had a salad and tried to get myself drunk with cider, which obviously didn't work. I was still high on adrenaline anyway.

A silly badly framed pic at the Garfunkel XD

We then went back to the Smart Hyde Park Inn and we found out that we were in a mixed room which wasn't what we asked but oh well. And the guys in question were french too, to add insult to injury (btw how do people cope with so many french tourists ? THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. Like a plague.) ! This youth hotel was WAY better than the first we tried last time but it reenforced my burning hate of these kind of places. I ended up sleeping 3 hours, tops.
Note to Self : DOES NOT WANT for next time *resolves self to throw a tantrum if it's the case*.

We checked out of the hotel early and made our way through Hyde Park to find the Royal Albert Hall. We found it in no time and hunted down a Starbucks to have something to eat for breakfast. We hung out in the Park which was absolutely lovely. I hadn't done this in ages.

MOAR SILLINESS XD

The promised land *SQUEE*

We headed back for the RAH 20 minutes or so before the door opened and took our seats. We were in the upper shelves on the side but we still had a good view of the stage. We also bought a program which was TARDIS shaped (how cool is that ?) and had a GORGEOUS b&w publicity pic of Freema inside that made me squee out loud. <3

This is mah girl. In case you didn't know it is mah girl. I repeat : MAH GIRL.

The concert was one of the best event I've ever been to and may have been the most fulfilling experience I've had as a fan. I never heard classical music live before yesterday and it was amazingly strong and visceral. Especially when the choir sang with the music. There was edited clips from the show playing on the screen to go with the music and appearances amongst the crowd of Cybermen, Oods, Judoon, Sontarans, Daleks and even Davros himself. It was magical and I had my eyes sparkling and a gleeful grin on my face the whole way through.

Freema was, as expected TOO DAMN GORGEOUS FOR MORTAL EYES. She wore a lovely black dress with matching heels and her hair was braided on only one side which looked very good on her. She was both hot and adorkable and I made sure to cheer REAL LOUD everytime she came on stage. Of course she had a massive number of fans here so I wasn't alone in my enthousiasm :D
We were also delighted to have Noel Clarke (looking fit *drools*) and Camille Coduri present the Dalek & Davros section (even if we knew they'd be there since they were in the program) and pleasantly surprised by Catherine Tate appearance which wasn't listed at all ! She had the loudest cheer from the crowd and it was totally deserved.

I was so overwhelmed at times that I cried twice and it wasn't to the songs I expected.
I ended up sobbing at the DoctorDonna theme played to edited clips from Journey's End, meaning all the heroic and upsetting bits. I didn't know they would play this (because I foolishly assumed the Donna theme would be the only thing they'd play in the Donna/Mme De Pompadour/Astrid part) and it was too heart-wrenching to bear.
DAMN. I really can't get over Donna's ending, can I ?
I also shred tears to Song for Freedom (which is the one you can hear during the 'biggest team TARDIS evar' scene from JE) because as much as I thought it was a little over the top in the actual episode, you can't imagine how incredibly powerful it was performed live. I hadn't realised it was based on the Ood song from 403 before.
The series 4 soundtrack is going to rock my socks SO HARD ! I can't wait for it to come out.

Music wise, other highlights included The Dalek & Davros theme which was also very strong with the choir singing and Doomsday which BLEW. ME. AWAY. live. It was much more energetic than the cd version and Melanie Poppenheim was amazing.

Stage wise, I ADORED the moment with the Dalek on stage chasing Camille, Noel and Ben Foster, and Davros himself appearing to tell us that he was taking over the RAH and making us his servants. I was totally geeking out like crazy.

Music of the Spheres made us die of laughter. I've never been to panto as a child but in that moment I was 7 again and shouting at the Doctor at the top of my lungs. I hadn't expected it to be something we would interact with and it was a complete success judging by the audience's enthousiastic participation. It also made up A LOT for the bitter taste Journey's End left in my mouth. I'm really glad that's not the last memory I have of Ten in my mind to wait for the Christmas Special anymore.

I also loved it when Freema told us that David phoned her to tell her that he was listening to the Prom on the radio right now in Stratford and that we rocked. He is SUCH a big fanboy and I love him harder for that <3333

Frankly, the concert exceeded my already high expectations and rose up my DW love at a level so insane that I can forgive anything.
Doctor Who makes me more happy than virtually anything else in the universe.

Some pics from the DW proms can be found here. I can't wait for it to air on telly so I can dl and watch its awesomeness all over again !

A huge crowd was already waiting at the stage door when we came out but we waited in hope to catch a glimpse of Freema. The security, composed of two bodyguards sucked and I couldn't see how they would manage to get her out. Well, they didn't. As predicted, I only had a glimpse of Freema's beaming smile when she finally came out before the crowd came rushing widely towards her. She lasted about 10 seconds before the bodiguards pulled her in again and a staff member told us that it was over and we should get home.
Well, we were ready to leave, but of course we had [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall with us and she's always ace in these kind of situations. She told us that she saw a parked cab leave towards the other side of the building and that we should go have a look. So we went to the other side and Catherine Tate came out with Freema in a lovely summer dress on her heels and we were only 8 or so this time. Of course, for security reasons they had to get in the cab quickly, Freema passed by us and apologized for not stopping with a guilty look and it was ADORABLE <3

YES, I has witnessed teh Freema Hawtness up close, I is v.v.v. happy about it *rosen enthralled*

I've lightened these a little, we can see a bit of Catherine Tate next to Freema here (I love that they shared a cab <3)

We finished the weekend by going back to Camden to buy some things we had spotted the day before and I found two awesome Boosh Tshirts for me and my brother. Mine has the Hitcher on it and his has Tony Harrison. Cath also bought a nice funky red one with Noel's face in black that said 'King of the Mods'.

We took the Eurostar again completely knackered and I showed last serie's Buzzcocks episode with Chris O'Dowd and James Nesbitt to Cookie <3

I won't whine too much since I'm going back to the UK at the end of the week, though. :P And with even more fangirls this time so YAY (oh and to see that Tennant guy from DW, incidentally... Ha... Haha.).

I so miss London too. And I miss Forbidden Planet. I came back last Thursday, and I'm going back in December (also, maybe to see that Tennant guy! Apparently he's really good.) Yay for you meeting Catherine and Chris!! I didn't meet anybody on my trip. I thought I saw Julian Barratt at St Pancras station, but it probably wasn't... Unless it was, in which case, I have made a fool of myself by not asking him :d

I was missing it too and I'm also going back in December lol (to see the Boosh). Catherine and Chris were adorable, it was nice meeting them.
If it was Julian then you had the RIGHT reaction not asking him because he would have flee as soon as someone recognized him XD In any case I hope it was him !

I know ! We really had the best of times and I'm really excited to go on a week long fangirl trip in four days again !

Camden is one of the coolest place on earth, too bad it's so crowded.

O_O

Your first pictures made me laugh 'cause last time I was in London, I almost completely shared my time between Camden and Leicester Square. A musical almost every night (yeah sorry I know that's sad, I'm a big fan of musicals in general. But Broadwway musicals not French musicals, even I am not THAT pathetic :P)

I was so glad when you said that there were several Freema lovers in the audience! ^^ I hoped you cheered enough for two! (this black and white picture and your tardis program looks gorgeous!!)

Oh and I forgot to ask: are you sure the Proms concert is going to be aired?

Haha great minds thinks alike ;)

(and I also love musicals btw so not finding you sad at all)

Well, judging from the audience she's loved all right over there, which is awesome !

Yes it's going to be aired (like they did before with the CiN concert) later this year but I don't know if there's a date yet.

The audio version is already online *is dling to listen to it all over again*

I'm glad I was able to share the squee darling <3 (it was embarassing because it came out of the blue and I couldn't control myself, LOL. You can already dl the udoi version which is worth it for the audience reaction to music of the spheres and the variation they did with the songs <3)

They're all beautiful and really nice people, brittish actors clearly are 100% awesome !

Next week will be 'wait for it' LEGENDARY !

Over here from who_daily and I just wanted to say I'm jealous that you saw the Prom in person! I listened on the radio and that was awesome enough but to have been there must have been great! I love the proms and I love DW so really I should have gone but hey-ho. Was not meant to be. Anyway, thanks for the great report and I can totally sympathise with your feelings for Freema. I got to stand almost next to her for an hour at Pride this year and I nearly died. Yes.

Oddly, I live in London and have never been to Camden Town.

Hi there :)

It was really lovely, I'm glad we made the effort to go. I'm sure it won't be the last occasion to go, though.

Everyone should feel the Freema love, she so deserves it !

You should really go to Camden one day, just to see what all the fuss is about XD
