Fangirl trip to teh UK circa 08
Aug. 14th, 2008 03:11 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So this is it ! I'll try to not be too lazy and at least not link to my fellow fangirls' posts right away.
Well what can I say apart from we had an unforgettable week from beginning to end !
I'll definitely keep everything in memories from the mad squeeing, the (seriously) hot welsh guys,DAVID TENNANT'S GORGEOUS ARSE, the general lulzy moments to the occasional bitching, the straight-to-the-bladder beers, Gerard's hairy back and the mighty english rain (although I would have done without that damn cold of DOOM, thank you very much).

jedicathy and

We were so effing lucky to be there during the festival (totally by chance) because it rocked even more ! Between the funfair (where ephyse and I won a free ride due to an extremely oblivious security guy), the concerts and the friendliness of the welsh people we had a blast of epic proportion. I mean aside from the multiple fangasms.

Obvious french tourists are obvious (left to right : Aude,
angeliksmall,
ephyse,
tya_rc and
fairy_bliss)

Hullo thar tv set !

I was not at all obviously spazzing out. At all. Too bad the Water Tower was covered in strawberries because of the festival, though !

Obvious french fangirl in front of the obvious Millenium Center is twice as obvious.

Obligatory invisible lift photo with everyone squeezed on top of said lift.

ephyse and I actually trying to make the invisible lift work with our minds. Can't say we succeeded.

ephyse,
jedicathy and I replaying the end of LOTTL by posing respectively as Jack, the Doctor and Marfa (why yes it had to be me since I was in red, kthx.)

One bunch of happy fangirls.

The giant wheel we took to take photos of the bay. At least I tried to take some while
fairy_bliss and
ephyse were busy screaming for dear life because of their fear of heights and too much spinning XD

The Bay at night.

Us (
fairy_bliss,
ephyse,
angeliksmall and
tya_rc) trying to blend in. Welsh pubs totally got our approval *thumbs up*

Yes I totally thought of Julian's legendary pink cowboy hat when I saw this one and yes, I bought it because of that. I'm totally wearing it again for the Boosh live show in december.

Next morning in the water bus heading for the Bay (yes, my framing skills roxxors !!1)

The Bay from the sea.

The Doctor Who tower ! Where all the actors live during shooting.

Gotta looooooooooove the catchphrase for the DW exhibition, LOLZ.
YAYZ ! \o/ (I adore cookie's expression on this one XD)

Old School luvin'. Which reminds me that I have yet to watch Two and Six serials, eeek !

THANK GOD they put 'Do Not Touch' signs everywhere. The size of Ten' suit is absolutely terrifying btw.

MARFAAAAA ! S1!Rose ! Nine ! Jack !

Phyphyse!Mickey

The old girl and the Arthur Dent jimjams

Run for your life, little fangirl !

This was Dalek Caan for me. He fleeeeeeeew into the wild and fire and you gotta love him for that <3

YES, I was compelled to take a pic of this part of the DWA poster *squee*

YAYZ A HATH ! ILU Martha fanboy.
We next headed to the Cardiff castle.

There was much more steps than anticipated to go all the way to the top *catches breath*

Which didn't harsh our silly moods at all.

The steps were quite narrow but nobody fell over, unfortunately.

Sunday night's awesome ASH concert !
Young Knives played before them and were also great. We bounced and danced like crazy (some more crazy than other) and my bra died in the process but it was totally worth it !
Stratford was cute in a very disney-ish kind of way. LOTS of old people, which made us sing Nanageddon, repeatedly.
Now funnily enough, I started sneezing like mad during the train ride from Cardiff to Stratford so I joked that OMG I was probably allergic to David Tennant. Yah well. Turned out I was starting to get sick and I only realised it when I almost died waking up in birmingham's train station the next day.
We saw Hamlet on monday night and I don't really know what I have to say about it apart from ADSDJADASLDHALDKHASLDHKALDH. We were seated in the first row which was even closer from the stage that what I had imagined (we could rest our elbows on the edge to give you an idea.). The play was absolutely fantastic. The adaptation was brilliant and aside from Dave, the rest of the cast was also mindblowing (especially Ophelia who was heartbreaking and Polonius who was hilarious). The Shakespearian english was admitedly quite hard to get for us non english folks but I thankfully had read the play not too long before so I had no trouble following it. David's performance was absolutely breathtaking. He owns the part and displays an impressive amount of energy.
And the man is too gorgeous for his own good. There was infortunate times when I was trying so hard to focus on what was happening and what the other actors were saying while Dave kept on wriggling his magnificent arse in our face, or kept acting his wee heart out while his tshirt and low jeans kept his hips and lovely flat stomach on display ASDLJDDJ%AS. I'm only human after all. He also killed Polonius right next to us and as a result was acting about 20 centimeters above us at one point, and I wasn't breahting until he left the stage.
We saw some really rude people leave before the curtain call to rush to the stage door. Apparently, respect is a notion becoming way too obscure to be part of everybody's common sense. We went to the already crowded stage door afterwards and waited anyway. Dave was kind enough to come out for 3 or 4 minutes. I didn't get an autograph since I had the reflex to step back when the big crowd started screaming and rushing forward but it was lovely to see him be so nice to the fans (even if he had to yell at some stupid people to make them stop pushing each other). I did take a crappy picture which is hilarious because he looks like a psychopath in it (must have taken it when he was pissed off).
For the lolz :
And a much better pic taken by
jedicathy

We visited the Shakespeare & Co houses on Tuesday and it was quite nice, despite the weather !

The pouring english rain failed at killing our enthousiasm \o/

Each statue had an extract of a play or a sonnet and we had fun reading them all out loud with our dreadful french accents XD
We found things to do that didn't suck too much in Birmingham but I still hate that damn fugly city with passion, and I am now joined by the five others who had never been there before, as I had predicted.
Tennant totally sucked the life out of us, which explained our state during the Stratford/Birmingham train trip :
We shared it with a slightly weird english dude who made some kind of statement by sleeping shirtless and displaying the hairiest back I had ever seen in my life in the process. We never got his name but named him Gerard. And yes, the whole hostel had painfully vivid colours everywhere, but our eyes got used to it.
The spot where we let
tya_rc sleep
A bad pic of the lovely band who stayed at the same hotel and invited us to their gig on wednesday night. They were suprisingly good and the drummer didn't let us pay for their first album. The fact that they were hot and incredibly nice wasn't at all surprising since they came from Cardiff ! Eh.
One of the many starbucks break we did during the week, I spared you the other 141566398 times
On the train to Cadbury World. Do spot the random advert using a Tardis right behind us.
We even managed to catch a news segment on the telly about Tennant in the 10 minutes train ride we had to Bournville.
I love this country SO MUCH I COULD CRY. Imagine that in France nobody has never watched Doctor Who in their life and David Tennant is a total unknown.
To say that it was depressing to go back to France on friday would be an understatement.
Thursday afternoon we went to the Birmingham art museum and there was an exhibition called 'Hair'
YES, the first two so are the Doctor and Donna ! I tried a little tongue!porn to be true to character.
Galouz you should totally adopt this look for serious, it does suit you.
ephyse's contribution to the children drawings section
I will conclude on this hilarious photo :
.
5 hours to make this post. It is now 3 am DAMNIT. I should have known when I was struggling like mad with my english and writing 3 or 4 version of each sentence for the last hour.
Oh and I totally forgot that I can't sleep til 12 tomorrow because I have to meet with cookie in Paris to go to the movies.
*headdesks herself to bed*

The water tower was covered in strawberries?! hahaha why strawberries?
Boosh hat ftw! You are also reenacting the scene in which Gwen is having a hen's night.
How did you know where the actors live?
LMAO!
Nooo! More idiocy from fans at Hamlet! Well, at least you guys restore my faith in DW fans for not being rude.
This photo has me singing 'sitting in an english garden waiting for the sun. If the sun don't come you'll get a tan from standing in the english rain. I am the eggman...'
Observant! And true!
hahaha a beach in the middle of the street! That's so cool! I agree that it will be the most appropriate weather for that beach- you can pretend to swim in the rain then go back to the sand.

on 2008-08-14 06:50 pm (UTC)The strawberry was the logo of the festival. As for the actor, I have two friends who are pretty well informed, except that

I am the walrus ! XD Yeah it was a happy rain.
We had the greatest of times, I really hope you can go next year (and who knows, maybe we'll be able to go back too on the same period ! That would be brilliant ^^)

on 2008-08-16 03:15 pm (UTC)oh maybe i could go when they are filming or something. That would be cool. You never know, the Tennant could just wander past (although, with the way fans have been acting at Hamlet, can he wander anywhere anymore?!)
oo even better- actually meeting another Doctor Who fan for a change! That would be fab (and i will have forgotten even more french by then so i would be pretty much fully dependent on your awesome english skills and my ability to point at things and make silly facial expressions haha)

Well the chucks are already very you, the rest of the look makes me think of Tonks and yeah you do look kickass in it.
No I did not but LMAO !!! Does those people are sekrit slashers or something ? Because it's starting to look like a patern to me XD
LUUUUUUUULZ I'm definitely buying Angelene's idea(s) and I'm all for it too !
