THE GATES OF AVALON WAS THE BEST. EPISODE. EVER.

YOU GUYS, MERLIN 107 WAS SO AMSDDJSADJAMDJM A-MA-ZING THAT I STILL CAN'T BRING MUCH COHERENCE TO MY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT.

We were at jedicathy's place with angeliksmall last night and we were so blown away by the sheer squee-inducing GLEE that we watched it twice in a row and again once this morning at breakfast AND IT IS STILL A-MA-ZING.

I'm going to fail at reviewing but let's just say that Arthur is a crazy-beautiful arrogant arse, Merlin is the Ultimate definition of adorkable and they both have the hots for each other in A PAINSTAKINGLY OBVIOUS WAY. So much in fact that it was dripping from the telly *flail x infinity* Boy, how I love Bradley and Colin's A-MA-ZING chemistry.


I really don't know why since the episode is basically made of slash from beginning to end but my absolute favourite moment is the first scene with Merlin bumping into a V. SRS BSNS Arthur in hunt mode. The way he yells "You really are a total buffoon, aren't you Merlin ?" seriously makes me want to flail into the next century x____x
And of course the exchange following this :

Arthur : "It requires stealth, cunning, and an agile mind."
Merlin : "So you're able to get by on two out of three, then?"

IS JUST ALSKDASLHDLAS. THEIR BANTER KILLS ME DED.

I promised myself not to start quoting because I could quote THE WHOLE EPISODE. *fear*

Other things I particulary LOVED include :

- Arthur and Merlin's1863716769 scenes in Arthur's room, especially the one when Arthur promises friendship4evar !!1 with benefits and Merlin accepts to make a fool of himself 4963439 times JUST TO MAKE HIS PRINCE HAPPY.
- The scenes between Merlin and Uther were so bloody hilarious XD Anthony Head and Colin Morgan were priceless acting against each other.
- Which leads me to say that Uther rocked my socks in this.
- Gaius' bench on fire ! *cracks up*
- Arthur's Dramatic Red Eyes of Cracklulz. Oh, man.
- All of Merlin really, he makes stupid so disarming and adorable ! His indignant "You dressed !" to Arthur TEEHEE. The very first words when he woke up : "Arthur" and and "I have to go after him" and and and "I'm fine he needs me" before he could barely stand up : O.M.F.G. I also love that the very next scene he is RUNNING LIKE THE WIND BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY LOVE GAVE HIM WINGS. An then made him trip on a root XDDD
- THE GAYWATCH SLOW-MO GROPPING. But that goes without saying.
- Arthur you are a Drama Princess soon to be Drama Queen of Britain AND ILU SO HARD FOR IT. Loved the last scene with Gaius and Merlin winding him up and Arthur all "WTF WAS I THINKING. OMG YOU KNOCKED ME OUT." *points finger of Doom* "NO ONE CAN KNOW ABOUT THIS!" *dramatically flops back onto pillows like the big princess he is* LOVE, SO MUCH LOVE. I love them getting at each other and Arthur getting back at Merlin in front of Uther made me SO HAPPY.
- Merlin :"Food shortage" *visibly tries to make tiny braincells work while being cute* OH MERLIN, LET ME KEEP YOU IN MY POCKET, KTHXBAI.

ETA : I forgot to mention Athur's struggle to break the powerful spell he was under as proof that HIS LOVE FOR MERLIN IS PURE AND STRONG.
ETA 2 : Also, the sheer aggressivity of Merlin's attack to tear Sophia and her father into shreds must also be noted. NO ONE CAN LAY A FINGER ON HIS BOYFRIEND WITHOUT SUFFERING A TERRIBLE DEATH.


I plan to icon the hell out of this awesome, awesome episode soon.

For an episode that had Arthur liking some girl (and then magically falling for her), there sure was a lot of Arthur/Merlin, wasn't there? This is, of course, a good thing. But also an amusing thing.

But yes, this whole episode basically made me want to draw little hearts around Merlin and Arthur ♥ ♥ ♥

Just when I think I can't love a character more, I see an episode like this. One of my favorite Merlin-being-adorkable scenes was when Uther said that if it was a time of war he'd be flogged, and Merlin was all "And since it's not, we'll let it go just this once? *happy face*"

That just about killed me with its cuteness <3

Oh no but the greatness of the series is that even the het is really all about the Epic Ghey Love Story of Merlin and Arthur. That will remain trufax til it ends, assuredly.

Even if I'm a proclaimed hardcore Arthur fangirl, Merlin won me over a tiny bit more in this one.

I LOVED that opening line. XD It completely summed up their relationship for me. But I did feel for Arthur. Seriously, Merlin, you lived in the country and you just barged in like that? *facepalm*

I am surprised that you have not mentioned the AWESOME that was Morgana standing up to Sophia. Although Morgana had a pretty crappy episode, they really put her through the wringer. But at least Gaius FINALLY admitted that she's a seer, OMG, how long did that take?

That first line also sums up the squee overload that was the ENTIRE episode.

IT S BECAUSE ARTHUR AND MERLIN ARE TOO DAMN DISTRACTING !! But yes I loved Morgana and I'm glad that her character seems to finally go somewhere (the next ep looks interesting). And I need to get her gorgeousness iconed like yesterday, SHE IS SO GORGEOUS.

It srsly does. Because it's not only true, it's incredibly ironic because Arthur ends up behaving like the biggest buffoon imaginable.

ISN'T SHE?! I swear 75% of the episode was Katie McGrath lying in bed with her wig arranged prettily on the pillow and the rest of it was her stomping around the castle, all heaving bosom and flashing eyes. She's so beautiful, it's practically cliched.
