*EMO TEAR*
So it's been a hell of a rollercoaster ride. I started watching it properly last year then stopped around season 4 and watched the last 2 seasons after having converted my dear
ephyse last month.
I laughed, I cried, I squirmed, I squeed, I sweared, I sweared A LOT and then, I sweared some more. TWAS FANTASTIC.
I think my favourite seasons are the 3rd and 6th. Probably because I loved the epicness and the happy ending of B/K in the former and utter hearbreaks that was the O'Reily brothers storyline and all the amazingly shocking deaths in the latter (OMFG SAID'S DEATH!). I've never cried as much as I did watching 606.
I fell in love with Beecher first but my favourite character is definitely Ryan in the long run, Miguel came a close second.
The ending was a bit of let down in some respects. I loved the conclusion of the B/K story, it was sad yes, but perfectly fitting. And in the end, THEIR LOVE WILL GO ON FOREVER, YES.
The last scene between Ryan and Cyril was awesomely sweet but it was too bad that Cyril's proper execution lacked the emotional punch that the previous one had. All the prisoners banging on the cells windows had already been done and the only thing I loved was Ryan and Gloria's first real kiss, considering the circumstances.
I ADORED MIGUEL'S LAST SCENE WITH TORQUEMADA OMG. Then again what a waisted opportunity for a great storyline ! Torquemada was introduced way too late.
I loved that Augustus was replaced most of the season by the dead prisoners (Dino !!) so it was too bad that they gave up on that a few episodes before the end.
The last shots of Oz empty were extremely nice but the plot device with the toxic gaz evacuation was meh. I'm a bit let down that they left the ending so open for some of the characters.
Those are minor nitpicks because as a whole, the show was truly outstanding and a lot of characters and scenes will stay engraved in my mind for a very long time. It was an amazing watching experience.
*Puts on her Bainbridge 'tache* I don't want to end on a down note. Here's a song :

on 2009-01-18 12:50 am (UTC)And heh the more out there plots from 4B I'm not so fond off. And I definitely thought Oz lost something with Adebesi's death. I loved his whole plot in 4A of gradually becoming more and more evil, his respect for Said, and the way it all ends. (And how awesome was it when that evil warden returns for season 6, I died laughing when he popped back up again). And Keller and Ryan working together in 4A was made of win too!!! And all the of the Beecher/Keller messing with each others heads *g*
Mst people seemed to be more upset over Keller's death in the finale, but I was more devestated over Beecher facing life imprisonment. That so pissed me off. Season 5 was originally going to end with Beecher's release actually, then they found out they got another season, so turned the original ending into a dream sequence. I thought it was too cheesy when they were forcing the romance with his laywer, but I wish he could have got out for good and made a life for his kid, while doing lawyer stuff to help with prison reform or something maybe *shrugs*
