Oh flowers of Scotland...

So FINALLY I finished sorting my pics and here's the result.
I'll be short on the report because I'm frankly too lazy to go into details. Let's leave it at 'TWAS AWESOME !'
Day one - Arrival in Edimburgh
I love this one because it's so typical. What do fangirls do when they're waiting 4 hours for transfer in Manchester airport ? Why yes they desperately seek somewhere they can plug their laptop in to check LJ, even if it entails looking silly while sitting on the floor. (that's
angeliksmall <3 and
fairy_bliss <3)
Edinbrrrruh ! (yup that's how it's pronounced over there) Such a pretty city ! We spent 5 lovely days here.
This beautiful city center hotel was the place where J.K. Rowling supposedly finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Knockturn Alley (why yes, that trip was completely HP themed. Daniel Radcliffe was the first thing we saw when we got on the plane because he was on the cover of the plane's magazine and it was totally foreshadowing.) aka the creepy alley we took to go to the older part of the city, which looked like this :
Day two - Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian's Wall
Rosslyn Chapel from lame-o Da Vinci Code fame. It was very pretty from the inside but we couldn't take pictures.
The gorgeous Melrose Abbey where the legend says that Robert de Bruce's brave heart is burried.
The Scotland/England border
A blurry pic of a random bagpiper playing at the border. Bagpipers were everywhere ! It left me needing more bagpipers in my life now that I'm back in my stupid bagpipeless country.
Day three - Edinburgh Castle
Edinbrugh Castle is basically on the top of a hill so we had a stunning view of the city when we got there.
That's also the day we met
marah_sarie <3 and ate at a delicious vegetarian indian restaurant and ended the evening with the hilariousness of the Scottish Falsetto Puppet Theater. FTW all around.
Day four - Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle
AND THEN IT WASAlnwick Castle HOGWARTS TIEM ZOMG!!!1 Useless to say that we were always singing songs from AVPM during the rest of the trip but that we went berserk that day.
That night,
fairy_bliss and I also went out to enjoy the Fringe festival and saw Rhys Darby's AWESOME new stand up show which killed us with lulz. It was basically the tale of his "increasing fame" since his breakthrough role in Flight of the Conchords in the US and it was all told in a very tongue-in-cheek way.
My atrocious pic of the pub where J.K. started writing the HP saga. We didn't even know beforehand that Edinburgh was so much connected with HP O_o
Day five - Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond
Now we did quite our share of castles, it was Scotland after all but intense subjective fangirling notwithstanding, Stirling Castle was my favourite.
Aaaand our first loch (or lorrrrrh as it was pronounced) ! The amazingly beautiful loch Lomond. We took a walk along the shores and it was incredible.
We were almost expecting dinosaurs to show up !
Day six - Inverness
We left Edinburgh for Inverness on saturday, and while the city was extremely cute, our youth hostel was not. I won't go into details but it was pretty gross. It was only for two nights so we managed to survive, though.
Day seven - Isle of Skye
Probably one of the most gorgeous place on earth ! It looked so much like Middle Earth and it was breathtaking.
A castle's ruins and its gardens on the Isle :

abella_08 and
angeliksmall

Froodooo don't wear the Ring, you'll never be the Lord of the Rings.

Fangirls in the middle of nowhere.

And on our way back to Inverness we stopped at...

Eilean Donan Castle aka Castle of Aaaargh in Monty Python's Holy Grail !! Later seen in the first Highlander film.
Day eight - Loch Ness and departure for Glasgow

The cruise was 3 hours long and we enjoyed every single minute because even if it was freezing it was, again, stunningly beautiful !

No need for this google earth nonsense, here's your Nessie !
And then 5 hours of Megabus later, we arrived in Glasgow which really felt like a return to civilization.
Day nine - Fannish day aka DW Exhibition and HBP on IMAX !
And of course a return to civilization also meant a full on return of our fannishness which is why we tracked down the Forbidden Planet and I bought the Hartnell and Throughton action figures (in colour) and the 2010 storybook, yaaaay.
I should take a pic of my DW shelf now because it's quite cracktastic. I have One and Donna beating a Dalek, Two suggesting dirty things to do with his recorder to YANA!Master while a voyeur!cyberman watches from one side of the TARDIS. Four is having a friendly chat with Davros, The Master proposed to Ten, Nine and Martha are busy looking cool and awesome together and River Song has Five cornered against a wall. FUNTIEMS. Oh and I also have a Saxon!Master and a blue suit + glasses!Ten shagging in my console room XD
ANYWAY.

Obligatory pic is obligatory.

A terribly old Jack Harkness.

Some cyber dudes.

Miss Hartigan's fierce red dress.

HEEEEEEE JACKSON LAKE.
And here's my favourite part of the exhibition : they built a replica of the art department and it looked awesome ! I couldn't take good pics though because a glass was in the way.
Then I turned around and saw this :
Now we weren't allowed to touch anything of course, but in some cases it was impossible not to be all *touch* *touch* *touch*. But I was ready to use the Bradley James method if needed : "je ne comprends pas, je suis française." :D Thanks to my sneakiness though, I never had to use it \o/

*pats trouser leg thinking TEEHEE*

Marfa and Donna together, as it should be <33333333333

*CLINGS*

HEEE SO MUCH ORSUM IN ONE GLASS BOX.

I WANTED TO STEAL IT SO HARD DAMNIT.
After this we visited the rest of the museum and had a starbuck break because our feet hurt like HELL. We spend the night at the IMAX to see HBP and had a blast since we were in an extreme HP mood at the time. AVPM ruined it a bit because we were in tears almost every time Snape and Draco were on screen. But that's absuuuurd.
Day Ten and Eleven - Chill Out in Glasgow
We saw Glasgow's Cathedral and visited the GoMA which had a very interesting LGBT themed exhibition, and we did a lot of shopping.
angeliksmall had left tuesday morning,
abella_08 left us for Ireland on thursday morning and
fairy_bliss and I sadly left Glasgow for France on friday morning. We would have loved to stay the whole month, to be honest.
And I will finish with the potential boyfriend we found for the TARDIS :
:D
