That was only the most impressive premiere of the fall for me.

Moronic shippers Haters to the left, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT \o/

House 6x01-02 - Broken

It was amazing.

It was basically let's just stop and spend two hours to take a real in-depth look at our lead character, our format be damned. It was a bold choice and it really worked because the result was like nothing they did before but it succeeded to make the character really move forward. I already knew that House was broken and a jackass but having him out of his comfort zone, making him face himself for maybe the first time in his life was heart wrenching to watch.

Which is not to say that I didn't also crack my shit up during most of the first part because during the (GORGEOUS ! SUPERB ! RADIOHEAD FLAIL !) opening credits I was all "OMG this is going to be sooooo hard to watch, poor House !" and then about 5 minutes in I became all "LOL poor employees and patients".

I *loved* the single Wilson scene which was absolutely brilliant. Sad yes, but I was so proud of Wilson for having the strength to cease the enabling for once. He really wanted him to get better and it was one of the greatest gesture he ever did for his friend. RSL nailed Wilson's emotional turmoil in the scene.

I was quite afraid that the premiere would portray the psychiatrist as the bad guy so I was extremely pleased when they didn't take that easy route. The secondary characters were played by excellent actors, were all interesting and worked really well with House and in the context of the episode.

Dr Nolan was pitch perfect, ambiguous and yet touching and really willing to help. The scene between him and House at his father's death bed was beautiful.

Alvie was both hilarious, excrutiating and touching. His last scene with him watching House leave from the window really broke my heart. The rap was embarassingly cute and the "back off they already think we're gay" hug WAS MADE OF THE WINEST OF WIN.

I really liked Lydia too and found her relationship with House not only well handled and subtle, but totally right for the character at this time. He tried to reconnect with someone and got hurt in the process, which ultimately helped him cope with real emotions and be ok in the end. The sex scene was shot in the most gorgeous way and was both hot and devastating.

I loved that we saw him so naked. Hearing him seek help or admiting out loud that he was damaged were some of the most powerful scenes from the whole show.

The ending scene with him getting on the bus on his own and wearing that faded smiley tshirt was incredible. It couldn't have ended with a more perfect image.

A great character study made with care and taken to levels that I would only wish to see elsewhere on tv.

I couln't disagree more with the people not liking the episode from what I've read in the fandom (and when I said moronic shippers, I was refering to the House/Wilson ones because the Huddy fans are surprisingly much calmer about the whole thing *facepalm*). I don't think it was cheesy or soap opera-ish or that House was OOC. If House was a two dimensional jerk I don't even know why I would bother watching. It would have been so disappointing if he spent those four months in Mayfield for nothing, imho. It was already a pretty huge step for him to take going there in the first place.
No, I don't believe that him getting better means that he's now a snarkless goodie two shoes. Do I think that it can last ? Possibly not, no, because it will be extremely hard for him to maintain that state but I sure hope that he will struggle to keep it because it will be fascinating to watch.

I laughed and cried several times watching this premiere and I've never been so in love with House's character (or Hugh Laurie's acting skills, or even his gorgeousness in some of the shots *___*) than I am after watching this so it was pretty awesome in my book.

I wanted to review HIMYM, TBBT and GG after this but I believe that House's win deserves his very own post of worship.

YOUR COMMENT MAKES ME SO HAPPY YOU HAVE NO IDEA. *glomps*

Oh that was my mistake. I looked for the reactions on the comms afterwards while I was still mindblowned and then I clicked and only found endless comments of 'Lydia was a Wilson proxy' 'needs moar Wilson' 'twas like a bad fanfic' *whines whines whines*... Wait, what ?

The last shot on the bus was great -- such an amazingly visual way to tie up the whole arc and bring it all back to that scene with Amber on the bus. Just lovely. Oh House, I love him when he's fucked up and miserable, and I love him when he's struggling to get better, and, basically, I just all around love him. <3

YES EXACTLY ALL OF THIS. I couldn't believe people complaining that Wilson didn't pick House up. Dude, he *had* to take that last step on his own. He *had* to finally get on the bus.

Bring on the struggle ! (and the moving in with Wilson <3)
