So much has already been said that I can only add my own OMFG ELEVEN WOW to the partay.
I saw it with the bro,
fairy_bliss,
tya_rc and
jedicathy and we all absolutely loved the episode and the characters.
.The thing I loved the most about Eleven : WELL. HE IS A BIT LIKE IDGAF, MAKE WAY FOR MY ORSUM COZ AM SO FLY LOOK AT MY BOWTIE. AND. IT. WORKS. Because Matty as a way of making the dickish ways look AWKWARD AND ADORABLE. Which is completely amazing.
The thing I loved the most about Amelia Pond : SHE IS A BIT BONKERS IN A V V V SEXY WAY AND WORKS SO WELL WITH ELEVEN. Her story made her instantly likeable to me. Also, she has one lulzy set of faces.
The thing I loved the most about Rory : HE'S A SAD PUPPY. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE. I loved how they described his character in the confidential and I really hope that he will accomplish something awesome to stand out of the Doctor's shadow by the end of the series. It would make a really good character arc.
The scene I love the most : MOTHERFUCKING ROOFTOP SCENE, MAN. I can't even begin to articulate the feeling of pure wonder and awe I had for Eleven in that scene. I love how he delivered "basically, run", bitch couldn't have been moar Hardcore if he tried. ALSO, SEA DEVIL AND HE STOLE CLOTHES FROM A HOSPITAL LIKE EIGHT. WIN.
My second favourite scene was the 'I'll be back in five minutes' scene with the 'trust me I'm the Doctor' and wee!Amy packing all excitedly and waiting in her garden while he never came back. Aaaaw.
The plot was very basic but worked well for an introduction and I loved the eerieness of it which was very Moffatish (the crack in the wall, the giant eye, the creepiness of the forms prisoner zero took).
Loved the humor (all the randomness of Jeff and his laptop hahaha), the bad CGI, the lil british village, the Mini and THE STEAMY TEXTUAL DOCTOR/TARDIS LOVE. His other half is looking DAMN GOOD.
I still have Ashes to Ashes and a bazillion DW posts to read. I'm glad that the fandom in general seem to be all WE LIKE ELEVEN, ELEVEN CAN STAY.

on 2010-04-05 08:55 pm (UTC)AMY IS SENSIBLE. I would have done the same thing in her situation, marriage the next day or not !
Mickey was annoying at the start of the show, I'm glad they made Rory more adorkable.
It was so brilliant. Love for all the Doctors and then Eleven STRIDING THROUGH TEN'S FACE and being all "Now run away before I lock you in a mirror, bitch". AND OF COURSE HE STOLE CLOTHES FROM A HOSPITAL LIKE EIGHT, HE EVEN HAS EIGHT'S STEAMPUNK SHINY TARDIS!
SO MUCH THIS !
I really liked End of Time but even I can admit that it was just a bunch of scenes clumsily put together.
I couldn't agree more about the plot's efficiency of the series opener.
God damn, this series is going to be good. Anybody who can't see that is just blind.

on 2010-04-05 09:22 pm (UTC)OF COURSE HE DID. I am so happy about that, but on the other hand, we have been saying for ages "OF COURSE he's brilliant, the Moff is not an idiot, he wouldn't cast just anyone!" And now suddenly everybody has realised what we knew all along, it makes me want to go "Well DUH! No shit, Sherlock." *lol*
AMY IS SENSIBLE. I would have done the same thing in her situation, marriage the next day or not !
Well, she wasn't getting married the next day, the end of the episode is two years on from the middle of the episode! But yeah, even so, if Matt Smith stripped in front of me, I'd look!
Mickey was annoying at the start of the show, I'm glad they made Rory more adorkable.
True, but by the end of it, he was a BAMF and adorable too! I am glad that Rory was so likeable, though. We don't want him to be Mickey no. 2.

There were some good scenes but it was just a mess! Ten deserved a better send off, really. :-/

I can't believe some people are complaining and calling it 'basic'! It's MEANT to be basic. You don't want the plot getting in the way of the new Doctor and the new Companion. Frankly, I was glad to have a plot that I could follow and which didn't throw new stuff at me every five minutes.

on 2010-04-05 09:45 pm (UTC)No I got the two years gap, but when she decides to go with him she asks him to bring her back 'tomorrow' (because she's getting married the next day) which is pretty telling since she saw how accurate the Tardis was so far !
