rosengirl: (Thick : Malcom Tucker Scot Pride)
I'm not posting real posts that much these days since my Nuke obsession has gotten in the way.

Good news is I've finished watching the Luke & Noah story on teh YT (and by this I mean I'm up to date in time for today's episode, eh), I can breathe again and relax.

Bad news is OMFG LUKE AND NOAH. OMFG VAN AND JAKE.

I'm so completely smitten with the pairing and the actors (especially Van Hansis, OH BOY. I mean Jake is quite all right these days but Van deserves an Emmy LIKE WOAH. No wonder he's always nominated.) I may keep on rambling about it all for a while. It's been 3 epic weeks of catch up and I made it through hysterical lulz, eyerolling, facepalming, GINORMOUS SQUEE and sometimes tears. I feel like I've known these people for years.

But that's for another post.

I have some things to say about the rest of telly, since I seem unable to review episodes on time anymore.

First of all, I have started watching two awesome brit series which should be highly recommended :

Misfits

This show achieves the exploit of being both stylishly gorgeous and extremely unglamorous. It's a bit nasty and raunchy but a very interesting take on the superhero genre. The characters are intriguing and the acting is good. Actually, Robert Sheehan who plays Nathan is a real scene stealer. He has all the best lines and plays wanker like it's in his blood. He also has a hilarious face and great comedic timing, in other words he rocks my socks off and I luff him !
Three episodes have aired so far and the first series will have six in total.

The Thick of It

Now I have to explain first how I got into this one. A couple of weeks back, [livejournal.com profile] fairy_bliss, [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy and I went to see In The Loop which had just been released in theaters (I know it's been months in the UK but I'm surprised it was released over here at all). We went mainly for Tom Hollander and Peter Capaldi and the film was an absolute riot. We loved it to death. I vaguely heard of The Thick of It before but I had NO IDEA that the film we just saw was basically an adaptation of the series with the same characters ! So I threw myself at the first series because I was in need of moar Malcolm Tucker Signature Swearing and I ADORED IT. Must watch the rest asap.

To make an easy description it's kind of like an xover between The Office and The West Wing and it is BLOODY HILARIOUS. One of the funniest, wittiest show I have ever seen.
Evil exists in human form and he is Scottish. Peter Capaldi embodies the purest form of Evil you will ever lay eyes on in the character of Malcolm Tucker. He is both absolutely terrifying and magnificent (I will never be able to see Children of Earth again without finding Frobisher never swearing and being a 'good man' 57 flavours of Wrong.). If he is the Devil incarnate, Jamie McDonald is his personal Hellhound. I love me some scottish wrath.
There's three series (about 6 episodes of 25 mins each) and the last one is currently airing.

Other shows that bring me joy :

White Collar keeps being absolutely fantastic ! It's my feel good show. Neal and Peter have like, the best banter scenes evar. I worship Neal and his sweetness and his fashion sense and his baby blues BUT MOST OF ALL, I can't get enough of Peter's adorkable ways. THE SOCKS IN THE LAST ONE OMG. Also I am madly in love with Elizabeth who totally wears the pants and is the fierce boss of this ménage à trois.

Legend of the Seeker 's second season is A-MA-ZING. Much darker and sexier. Cara makes a wonderful addition to the group and Kahlan is fiercer than ever. As far as guilty pleasures go, this one is much more superior to Merlin as a whole these days, imho.

Community is one of my favourite new show (first place goes to White Collar) and it makes me cry with laughter. It's surprisingly absurd for a US comedy. I adore Abed and Troy (and I totally ship it, yus).

Criminal Minds's 100th episode BROKE ME SO HARD. I was blown away by the brutality and Thomas Gibson's outstanding performance. I love Hotch's arc this season. I'm scared as hell for him and I'm concerned about where this is going but it's really good stuff. Kudos to C. Thomas Howell for his portrayal of The Reaper because he has definitely become my favourite unsub of the entire show.

Merlin is quite hit or miss with me this year. I didn't like the Troll episodes and Witchfinder so much but I LOVED The Sins of the Father and Lady of the Lake in which Bradley and Colin both took turns to blow me away. I wasn't too fond of the last episode, Sweet Dreams because I found it a bit pointless and meh. I did like Georgia and the Arthur/Gwen stuff though. Next week looks awesome.

House's 6th season rocks my socks more than ever. I love House and Wilson living together, I love Cuddy/Lucas and I am THRILLED by the departure of Cameron and the return of Taub (who was excessively FTW along with Chase last week) and 13. I can't even begin to describe the length of my excitement for tonight's episode. If it doesn't turn out to kill me dead with ORSUM I will be pretty fucking pissed.

The Office's 6th season is also incredible and totally deserves to be mentioned. It's way more bittersweet than outright funny this year but it feels very rewarding in terms of character development. Especially for Michael and Andy.

Last but not least Doctor Who makes me happier than ever. I know that it's not even on for another 25 days but I feel the hype something fierce.

HAPPY FUCKING CHRISTMAS!

Actually I also have concrete Who love since I've started a quick best of marathon of new who episodes. Parting of the Ways and Girl in the Fireplace in particular are still spectacular to watch. Incredible episodes.

ETA : totally blanked Glee for shame ! It's also making me joyful these days. ♥Manipulative!Kurt♥
