YOU GUYS, MATT SMITH IS ABSO-FUCKINGLY-LY BRILLIANT AS DANNY FOSTER IN PARTY ANIMALS ! ♥
I'm up to 106 and I had to get that out of my chest ^^
So Party Animals is GREAT. It's more of a glorified soap set in a political context than a real drama about politics but the cast and the stories are really good and you can't stop watching it !
OF COURSE, it doesn't hurt that the series' real focus is about the lives of two brothers (Danny and Scott Foster) living together and being incrediblysuspiciously close cute and domestic <33333
Danny is an idealistic, borderline naive but extremely clever researcher working for Labour Home Office Junior Minister Jo Porter. He is completely devoted to his work, socially challenged and very awkward. In other words he is ADORKABLE.
Scott is a lobbyist who works for a firm keen on making friends with the Tory party. He is a gorgeous prick but has sweet sweet moments of vulnerability. Still a prick, though. He cares deeply about his little brother.
When I say care, I mean glomping, hair ruffling, guilty crisis and occasional cry in each other's arms. Oh yes.
We follow two teams of young researchers, Danny and Kristy (Andrea Riseborough from Being Human and the Devil's Whore ♥) from the Labour HQ and Matt and Ashika who work for Shadow Minister James Northcote (Patrick Baladi aka Excelsior from No Heroics !). It's quite interesting to have a critical view on both sides.
Apart from Danny, the characters aren't nice and they all have personal agendas, which is perfect to depict people in politics.
I love pretty much all of them, even if I mainly watch to have Matt making me flail like mad. HE IS SO GOOD.
There's something definitely doctorish about him in the way he moves. He's quite... Fidgety. He has great charisma too and he proved me that he can easily be leading man material.
I can't unsee it now.
I am 600% convinced that he will do great things in DW and just, yes let it be 2010 already (sorry Dave !).
EDIT : if *that* doesn't finish to convince you to watch then, er, you are bloody weird !
I did cap the hell out of it and made some textless icons, mostly for myself but I thought I'd share teh love :
