So
jedicathy,
fairy_bliss and myself came home yesterday after a bitchin' London weekend of win !
We saw the matinee performance of Design for Living on saturday and loved it. It started a bit slow but I really really got into it by the second half of act 2 (SERIOUSLY, the scene where Otto and Leo got drunk together ? I COULD HAVE WATCHED THREE HOURS OF THIS SCENE ALONE, I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END) and loved it to bits til the end. Andrew Scott's performance was incredible and hilarious. He was so... Flamboyant and cracky, bouncing everywhere and speaking in his fantastic high pitched voice of his. He was very impressive. Tom Burke, who played Otto was incredibly dashing and charmed the hell out of me. The interactions between the characters were full of quick-witted humor and the set design was absolutely gorgeous, we spent a really nice, entertaining afternoon. I'm even kinda bummed that it's a play and there's no fandom because I ship Leo/Otto so hard I want a fic fix now, damn them !
Trailer for the play with some unexpected!Cumberbitch in it :D
We spent the following evening/night wandering around Picadilly, Leceister Square and Regent Street to see the Christmass decorations. We stopped by a Starbucks to try the Eggnog Latte (an aquired taste but it was good) and we walked by the Odeon where they had the uk HP7 premiere a couple of days earlier. So all in all, a very nice day 1 !
On sunday, we spent the rainy morning shopping in Camden Town. OH CAMDEN, HOW I MISSED THEE. EVEN THE RAIN DIDN'T SPOIL YOUR AWESOMENESS. I found these which I wanted since I first saw them online and got them in like, the first shop I looked when I thought I wouldn't find them at all \o/
The day went by fast (we did our obligatory trip to Forbidden Planet) and then it was time for BENEDICT AND EDDIE. (Cathy and I were dying of squee on the tube to get there, it was epic).
I thought that the Children's Monologues would be quite hard to get through and maybe a bit too depressing but it really wasn't. The play was outstanding, the whole cast (who only did a rehearsal all together on the day of the performance) was very good and the variety of the stories picked, even if it was harrowing at times because some of those stories were still difficult to take in, made each of the performances from the actors interesting and riveting in very different ways.
I'm extremely biaised, I know, but Benedict's piece was my favorite ! It was both hilarious and quite moving. The way he acted against thin air and yet made me almost see the imaginary teenager who he was talking to was just brilliant. Eddie's bit about a boy excited for his birthday was extremely funny as well and he used the space on stage really well. Nathan (Misfits' Curtis) and the girl he was paired with did great too, Ben Kingsley's piece had me in tears and I loved the closing piece about the boy who loved oranges. Every single story was interesting one way or the other, we once again really enjoyed ourselves and had an amazing time.
video itw with Benedict, Ben Kingsley and Gemma Arterton about the play.
The stage door afterwards was surprisingly way less crowded than we thought it would be. The actors came out quickly and Eddie Redmayne had even appeared before we got there so we caught him on our way and he was such a sweetheart ! Cathy died of course but mostly inside, which was of the good. He was in a rush but took the time to personalize our autographs and took a pic with Cathy, he was very VERY handsome irl and was all NO WAI when we said we came from Paris to see the play.
Nathan had the extremely good idea (not for us tho) to come out at the same time as Benedict so we couldn't stop him while he made a quick exit, which was a bit of a shame. Benedict was expectedly super sweet and kind with everybody, he signed and took pictures with everyone who wanted to and gave me goosebumps everytime he spoke with his soft velvety voice in my general direction, or looked at me with his blue blue blue eyes of blueness. I really really dig the blond now, I think it suits his features and it contrasted nicely with his tight black leather jacket (which I couldn't help but stroke when we took our picture /perv).
So, yes, GREATNESS AGAIN on day 2.
Yesterday we just had a full english breakfast at the Cillantro and did a bit of shopping before taking the train back
I don't have the pics in my possession since I didn't take them and can't have access to them right now but maybe I'll get to post them eventually.
In other news, I saw Misfits' series 2 premiere and OMG STILL SO GORGEOUS AND EPIC. What a great start ! I loved that it was kinda Simon centric and I realized how much I missed Nathan's twatishness from hell ! GAAAHHHH LOVE THAT SHOW. Next week looks rad !
I caught up on the intrawebz and was greeted by :
1. an EPIC Van interview where he is a total dork (I also want to see your big face, bb).
2. Jake Silb will play Jonathan Harker in an off broadway production of Dracula.
3. Benedict will play the monster and his creator every other night in Frankenstein (WHICH I WILL TRY TO SEE AND COMBINE WITH THIS).
(I love the timing of 2 and 3)
4.

YEAH. This will totally end up on a wp, or icons or a new header or ALL OF IT.
5. TONYA <3 POSTED THE FIC I WON FOR THE LEMONADE PROJECT WHICH I WILL READ RIGHT NOW \o/
6. MR ALEX DAY DOING A COVER OF GRANGER DANGER. FTW.
7. Darren confirmed as a regular on Glee !
