20 good reasons for my Nuke obsession.

The very first part.
Now let me count the ways.
1. Van Hansis is THE SHIT. He can act his way through a soap opera and be awesome at it. Pretty much everyone else has killed me with unwanted lulz at some point but not him, oh no. I take Luke dead seriously and he's the only one to get me emo enough to tear up. In fact he is so talented and my love for Luke is so hardcore that I'm watching Luke's story pre Noah now. INORITE *facepalm* But now I can say that he owned the role from the start.
2. Luke Snyder's EPIC BITCHINESS. He is *such* a little bitch ! If Luke doesn't like you you better run for the hills because he's a vindictive little fucker. That's of course not all there is to him but that's my favourite side and I'm always squeeing my head off when it comes out.

winterevanesce made an awesome fanvid of the Luke & Mason debacle : Luke Snyder vs Professor Beefcake : THE SMACKDOWN. It's a good exemple of Luke's bitchy side (Noah was not a happy bunny but I'm sure he'll come around).
3. Noah Mayer is THE BEST. BOYFRIEND. EVER. After Luke and Noah started to have sex, Noah inherited the Oakdale Brain (it's a soap, therefore the town has only one brain to spare) and kept it ever since. He is always super patient with Luke and prevents him from getting too much into trouble (because Luke is brash, stubborn, a bit of a spoiled brat and extremely impulsive. Did I say that I fucking loved him ?).
4. Jake Silbermann's voice. I don't know why but his voice is such a turn on. I also love his puppy blue eyes. He did the best audition tapes ever where he says extremely filthy stuff like "semen-swallowing soul-crushing demon slut" and I basically never recovered because his voice + filth = more than I could handle (makes it easier to imagine Noah's dirty talk during sex though)
5. Luke's current Magnificent Hair. I say current because Luke is always changing haircuts and hair color every 5 episodes. Right now it's a bit too long and so very GORGEOUS. I just want to reach out and run my hand through it. The storyline right now is maybe the most ridiculous after the Reg Murder Mystery of Fail (nothing can top that one) and ok, Jake is actually pretty good at portraying Noah's anger and frustration with his current condition. But what really makes me hold on ? The Wonders of Luke's Hair, definitely.

6. The Fashion Statement. Noah wears flannel shirts. Luke wears Every Kind of Stripes Ever. They wear flannel and stripes on screen both at the same time and yet I still haven't gone blind. I think they actually pull it off, even. How do they do it ? I have no fucking idea.

7. Luke and Noah are the cutest pairing ever. I'll admit that I may love when they're fighting and angsting all over the place (their first big fight still being my all time favourite part) even more, but in the end, there's no better reward than have them happy and completely adorable with each other for a while. It's usually short lived but it makes those moments all the more precious.

8. Luke being all slutty and mean when drunk. It's SO HOT I CAN'T EVEN.
And then he took him home and spanked him (haha I wish. To this day, I am still traumatized by what happened afterwards.)
9. Everytime they talk about or allude to sex. I know that it's daytime tv which means that we'll never have a sex scene QaF stylethank god for the steamy fics but it's already nice that THEY FINALLY DID IT and that since then they talk about it or imply that they fuck like bunnies so often. It helps that Jake and Van have such an A-MA-ZING sexual chemistry, that it looks 100% genuine and natural on screen.
GUH.
One of my other all-time favourite scene is their first real onscreen sex talk which is both hot as hell and hilarious (lulz cheesy music).
10. THE EPIC AFTERELTON ROCKBAND INTERVIEW. TOO MUCH FTW TO COMPUTE. It has the boys playing Rockband with Jake trying to look like a rockstar with his guitar when playing in easy mode and Jake but mostly Vanbutchering singing Bad Reputation (more adorable butchering at the end of the video). The following interview is PRICELESS because they are... Well if there is so many RPS fics in this fandom let's just say that it's completely their fault. Watch out for the body language and how they talk about "certain friendships". Oh my god.
We've hit the halfway mark.If you've made it so far then I'm impressed ! I could really go on and on but I did restrain myself (though I could totally come up with an identical post and 20 new reasons, easy peasy.).
11. Team Grimaldi ! OMFG. Since the bio dad showed up, since I discovered that Luke's bio dad was played by LARGO FRAKKING WINCH, since I learned that Luke's real name was Luciano... I became twice as hardcore. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Luke and Damian's relationship. If Holden Snyder (Luke's adoptive father) can be compared to Bo Kent, Damian Grimaldi is definitely Lionel Luthor and it's SO AWESOME. I loved Luke's daddy issues with him at first and then, when he started accepting him in his life, realised that they're completely alike and having everyone else freak out because of this. Damian is super sexy, super rich and super dodgy, I love that he's teaching all these good values to his son. It's also very interesing that Noah is starting to get scared shitless because Luke is turning into his father when he was the one who helped Luke give him a second chance in the first place.
Van and Paolo being cute. Too bad Paolo's hair has gone out of control. I miss the spiky hair so much !
12. Jake and Van's adorkable geeky ways. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEIR GEEKERY. I love the fact that they go see horror movies together. I love that they're both into comics and recieve lots and lots of comics related gifts from fans. I love that when asked about what storyline they would write for Luke and Noah if they had the chance, they came up with either Luke and Noah fighting zombies or Luke getting bitten by a radioactive spider and Noah getting exposed to gamma rays <333. Their sheer awesomeness is truly mezmerizing.
13. Casey Hughes. LOOK UP AWESOME IN A DICTIONARY. YOU WILL FIND A PIC OF CASEY, TRUFAX. Casey is Luke and Noah's (straight) BFF, he sometimes played Luke's beard, he was Luke's campain manager when he run for presidency of the student body and he's used to plot schemes to have Luke and Noah get back together when they weren't. AND IT WORKED ALMOST EVERYTIME. His orsum often overwhelms me. Not to mention that HE IS FUCKING FIT. Luke/Casey is my crack pairing, they're way too hilarious and adorable with each other and I love when Luke teases him ♥ Which is why it really saddens me when I have to fastforward through some of his stuff when it's not related to the boys because it's boring me to tears. I'm always like 'OMG sorry bb I still love ya D:'.
14. Kisses with tongues. Not that I'm always watching the kisses in repeat to see if I can spot a nice bit of tongue action. Nope, not my style. At all. I especially love it when it'sJake Noah's initiative. As demonstrated below :

15. The fandom. It's not always easy for a newbie to find her way into an established fandom but I must say that this is one of the most well organized and laid back fandom I have ever had the chance to discover. It's very active and full of cool and talented people (which is already more than you can say for some other fandoms I have :/). No wonder I got sucked in so quickly. They have fantastic fic authors and vidders.frances_veritas did a immensely helpful post of fic recs here and is also responsible for two of my favourite vids, So What and Someone Wake me Up. My all time favorite Nuke vid is Losing Grip by winterevanesce because I'm an angstwhore and the editing is flawless. oktoberskies did the most comprehensive Luke/Noah picspam in two parts over here. This fandom even has A ZOMBIE THEMED JAKE/VAN MESSAGE BOARD. You can't get more FTW than this, trufax.

17. Calling each other 'baby' or 'babe' in stressful situations. It happened about 3 or 4 times and I FLAILED LIKE MAD everytime. I just love that it's canon and that fic writers can use it without being OOC in this fandom. I think my favourite must be when Luke found Noah in the hospital with his shirt soaked with Damian's blood and went "oh baby, baby you're shaking." and Noah said something like "if this happened to you, if it was your blood on my shirt..." and Luke grabbed his face and said that he was okay over and over to calm him down. OMFG I DIED SO SO HARD.
18. Nuke Madness. Is the best piece of fanwork ever made. Ok maybe not but IT CRACKS ME UP SO HARD ! It's three parody fanvids similar to this SPN vid and it's made of complete win. I love that in all 3 there's a bit about Luke's Epic Bitchiness ♥ I watched them so many times I know some bits by heart.

19. The canon AU's. NEVER GET OLD. It's not really in the execution because it's terribly cheesy but it's just the fact that they made AU stories canon ! That's just both amazing and hilarious. It also gave birth to lots of incredible fic series and I will be forever grateful for that ♥ They did two so far, a tiny angsty scene set in THE VICTORIAN ERA (OMFGSOMUCHLUV) for a christmas special, and a little AU story where Noah enlisted in the navy and met Luke under different circumstances in NY for a Valentine's Day special. I hope they'll do one again soon because they're so much fun and I'm wondering what else they could come up with.
20. The Luke & Noah event in Paris. This one is pretty special to me because the organizers have made a great documentary in 16 parts (over 2 hours) on YT and it was the very first thing I watched with the boys while I was catching up with Nuke. It's definitely the main reason I fell so hard for them in the first place. Some of those parts I've watched more than once. Jake and Van were adorable and so funny. I was immediately mindblowned by the natural chemistry and ease with each other. I loved their banter, I loved their genuine sweetness with the fans.
The event in itself was fantastic because the production of the show wasn't involved, it was only the european fans's determination and Jake and Van's willingness to help that made it happen. It took place one month prior to me getting into it *FAILBOAT* so I'm still pretty gutted by my bad timing (I know that so close to the date I wouldn't have been able to get a ticket but I would definitely have stalked the place to catch a glimpse of them.).
Also, THEY HAD A ROMANTIC DINNER JUST THE TWO OF THEM BY THE EIFFEL TOWER. I shall forever be haunted by this fact.
However all is not lost for me since they are apparently very interested to do another one next year \o/
This will never ever happen again without me being there, KTHXBAI.
Conclusion : you never know when and where you will find your next major OTP and it might strike you when you least expect it.
For me, it only happened to this level three times before, with CLex, Brian/Justin and Doctor/Master. This is officially my fourth and I'm so happy to be in that state again.

I only discovered it a month ago and caught up from the start (400 parts ! Epic marathon was Epic).
Jake's audition tapes made my jaw drop the first time I saw them. HOT. LIKE. BURNING. It's so nice to have him try out for a part so vastly opposite to Noah's character.

The only difference with this one from european soaps and why I think that you should really give it a go is that Noah's coming out story is the very first arc but after that they go through really proper batshit crazy soap stuff which you can only see in an american soap. It's REALLY fanfic plots. So idek, maybe if you have time on your hands someday, give it a shot because you will die of lulz in a very good way.

I'm completely chillax about Nuke being endgame as well. Just by looking at the way they did the Nuke breakup, it's pretty obvious that they still love each other like crazy and will find their way back to each other eventually. I love the idea of a real triangle. I can't wait for the SL to move to that point already (and for Noah to get his sight back, FINALLY).

on 2010-12-26 10:54 pm (UTC)I just had a wonderful time reading this and watching all the videos. It's cold and windy outside, but I'm nice and toasty after devouring all of this. I've seen all of these before except for Nuke Madness 2 & 3. Hysterical. This made me so happy.
You're probably wondering how I found this. Well, to make a long story short... I bookmarked this in April and just found it. I'm trying to clean out my computer. I probably found it through the same link as Indigo5 on vanhasis.net and didn't have the time then to watch everything. Boy, it sure was "worth the wait".
I'm also one of the rare "I liked Reid", but NUKE is forever people. As you know, the last several months were poorly done or let's say SUCKED. I also loved Casey mucho. He cracked me up & had great abs. HEE
Thanks again for all the memories and fun in your post. I hadn't seen the RockBand vid in ages. Jake's audition vids will always be priceless.

on 2010-12-27 03:42 pm (UTC)I hadn't even finished catching up with the SL when I did this post and I can really say, one year later, with the show done and everything that's happened, despite all the negative things... My love for the boys is still just as bright now as it was then.
And hahaha as for Reid... Well I can't reread that comment exchange with Rachel because looking back at it, we were unfortunately too naive and trusting *sigh*
My peace is made, I do think Luke and Noah will find their way back to each other and I still like Reid now (in a 'he was a good character on its own let's forget all about the last two months of the show' kinda way) but I did felt bitter quite a lot during those last months.
Casey is still my favourite secondary character in the show (when he was involved with the Nuke SL) and in fics, Damian has become more of a 'love to hate' deal.
I'm happy you took a trip down memory lane with this and you had fun doing it, thanks again for commenting!
